I can hook my Sansa up to my comp, and it charges, but everytime I try to access the device, whether to load songs or just to explore device, it reboots on its own. It all started after I was synching songs with realplayer, and real froze and so did my mp3 player. I couldnt shut it off so I let the battery die then recharged it, and I can still go on the device itself and go to the radio and stuff, but cant access it with my pc.
Forgot to mention that the computer does recognize the device, just reboots when accessed.Forgot to mention that the computer does recognize the device, just reboots when accessed.

Re: cant load songs
These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.
Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced. Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website. Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything. Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp If these fail, then: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version). You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer. -Tha Mp3 Doctor

first try using windows media player to sync.. it tends to work a bit better if not try this...
1 connect your sansa to comp via usb cable
2 right click start on windows desktop go to explore
3 scroll down to your sansa's drive rifght click it go to properties
4 go to tools tab and click "check now" under error checking will take awhile and will erase your memory on the sansa but it will probably work again
I expected to find the new playlists on the SD card as a separate file to access and play. Instead the SD card songs show on up the Sansa menu simply added among the existing songs / artists stored in the Sansa. Its not a solution but they are there. Since using the SD card, my Sansa does databse refresh everytime it starts, whether SD card is in it or not.
Disable auto-sync in Windows Media Player - Microsoft's website explains it far better than I can
Open Windows Media Player WITH the mp3 player connected Highlight Sync, click on the arrow to bring down drop-dow menu Select Set Up Sync Uncheck box that says "automatically sync files to device"
"Refresh database" is a normal message that you will get everytime you unplug the Sansa from the computer - don't worry about that aspect.
If the songs that you have transferred have DRM encryption on them, they may not play right (or at all) on the Sansa.
If you have Windows Media Player 11, I would get the firmware update from the Sansa website AND format the Sansa inside Windows Media Player:
for the firmware,
for the format, http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx
Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything and get your player functioning normally.
You have to sync it, I know i had the same problem!
When you conect it, you should have a screen saying what action to take go to sync.
You have to put your songs in there then sync
Try downloading the MEDIA MONKEY. Its better than windows media player and itune. It automatically detects any mp3 players and you can synch your e280 without any problem. Whether you are using vista or xp the media monkey is way better than windows media player. You can open your mp3 player once you see it in the Media Monkey left pane, from there you can delete songs and explore your mp3 player.
solution
step 1
connect the device to your computer and check whether the computer shows any data if it shows one then try to access the player through the
step2
computer if you cant access the contents in the player then right click on the dirve icon and select tools and make a backup of the disk and
save it to your system
step 3
now use the bundled software with you too accsees the player if you can do it now then you can copy the contents to the hard disk
if step 1 is negative then all of your data have been permanatly erased and so then nothing can be done
Forgot to mention that the computer does recognize the device, just reboots when accessed.
