Jenn-air built in refridgerator

We apparently had a power outage while at work today, came home and the fridge will not turn on. We have checked the circuit breakers, flicked them off and on a few times. We tried the power button in the fridge unit and the power switch on the top of the unit for the compressor. It seems like the unit does not have any power. Any suggestions?

Nothing not even the lights come on? A power surge might have blown out the breaker on the fridge.

SOURCE: Loud buzzing noise from inside Jenn Air 2389G fridge

i don't know jennair specifically being from england.
however, there is often a fan inside the back panel and the noise you heard was the fan hitting ice. the reason now not heard and fridge not working may be that the ice has built up so much the fan is jammed

SOURCE: refrigerator stopped working, freezer works fine

I turned off the refrigerator and left the freezer door open so the coils and the vents could thaw out. The cold air was not getting to the refrigerator section because of ice blocking the vents.

SOURCE: 42" Built-in Monogram Refrigerator just lost power.

Check the Compressor starter. This is a black box on the top of the compressor. See if it is getting any power, also with a flash light you will be able to see if it is burnt it looks like a BIG fuse. If it is popped you will need to replace it then all will work ok after that

SOURCE: Kenmore fridge compressor not going on - reset circuit breaker?

Look at item 4 on this picture for location of the defrost timer. You will need to rotate it with a flat head screwdriver and you should hear a click to see if your compressor starts. On the first picture above about 0.5 inch from the top from the 12 o'clock position is the dial that you will need to rotate It should be mounted horzintally in the top of your food section. The dial could be white or black. It has 2 tabs on it and can only be rotated in the direction that the tabs would be engaged by a flat head screwdriver. Turning it backwards will result in having to replace the defrost timer straight away. So again rotate this dial and see if your compressor starts.

If it starts then you have either a bad defrost timer or 60 deg F thermostat in the freezer section coils.

If it does not start then you can have a bad compressor relay, run capacitor or the compressor itself has failed. If the compressor is hot and you hear a hum from the compressor for about 30- 45 seconds it could be any one of the 3 above.

I would be willing to go out on a limb here and say you most likely have a defrost circuit problem.
There is a remote possibility that you had a one time instance of the defrost timer sticking but on an older unit If it stuck once it will most likely stick again in the future.

The newest defrost feature in modern fridges is the electronic adaptive defrost control board. Maytag/Jenn Air has one version, see diagram...to put this adaptive defrost style of fridge into defrost, short with a small screwdriver between L1 and test on the adaptive defrost board, wait 3 seconds and you should hear a "click" noise from the relay and the fridge will shut off and go through a defrost cycle.

How do you turn the light off of your refridgerator once you have installed the water filter?

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. Here is what to do:

  • Maytag and Jenn-Air - press and hold the lock and light buttons (lock and water on newer fridges) on the dispenser for about 4 seconds, until the indicator light blinks.

  • Hopefully that resovles your filter light being on.

    Thanks for choosing FixYa.

turn freezer to higher temp and turn fresh to lower temp this maximizes airflow into the refrigerator. check the door that regulates airflow into fresh side..see if its stuck closed for some reason. good luck! :)

How to reset my Jenn-Air Jxt8836ADS kitchen hood?

According to Jenn-Air (Maytag) if you remove the power from the hood for 15 minutes it will reset the board. So depending on how long the power was out the outage would have done this. There is a good possibility that the outage ruined your board.
