Could be this is a driver error on boot up, when it starts to boot up keep pressing F8, this will bring up the safe mode menu, look for the line and highlight 'Last Known Good Configuration' and press Enter.
If this works all is well, but if not press F8 again o boot up but this time highlight the line 'Start Windows in Safe Mode'.
If the laptop then boots up in safe mode without shutting down, run your anti virus and spyware programmes.
If non found and the laptop still has'nt crashed, then it's a driver problem (as not all the drivers load up in safe mode) and you will need to try a system restore to before the problem started.

Try removing the main battery and unplug the power, then hold the power on button down for 30 seconds, if this does not work, remove the cmos battery for 30 seconds to reset the bios
I have same problem before, it is because my laptop keyboard was stuck. Try to remove your laptop keyboard and turn the laptop without keyboard. If its run normally, you should replace your keyboard with a new one.
Check the fan and make sure it is running. It will shut off if it gets too hot which can be caused by a fan failure. If the fan is okay, you may need to reseat the heatsink and reapply fresh thermal compound to it. Oh and please take a moment to give this solution a fixya rating. Thanks! :c)
