No Sound We took out the factory stereo in our 96 Explorer and are trying to install an XD7500, but can not get sound. Everything is connected except the yellow auxiliary input as I am not sure where to connect it to or if it needs to be connected as I am not installing an amp at this time. Any helps is great, thanks!

A couple of things here. The yellow wire isn't for an amp; the blue wire is. The yellow wire should be connected to constant power. Secondly, that truck may have a factory amp, in which case you have to connect the blue wires to the remote for that amp, or it will light up, but you will never get any sound.

I suspect you may have a blown fuse. Either the red or yellow wire from your dash board should have power (+12 DC volts or greater) all the time relative to chassis ground, which should be the black wire. Use a voltmeter to measure this. The other wire (red or yellow) should only have power (+12 DC volts or greater) when the car is turned on or the key is turned to the Aux position. Use the voltmeter to measure this also. If one of these wires doesn't measure correctly you most likely have a blown a fuse. I think the Honda Passport has 2 fuse boxes. If you open the driver's door I believe you will see a panel for one fuse box on the left side of the dashboard. I believe the other fuse box is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Fuse boxes sometimes have a labeled diagram on their cover or you may be able to find a diagram in your owner's manual. Look for fuses labeled radio or dash. You should be able to easily pull them out with a pair of needle nose pliers. If you look carefully at them you can usually tell if they're blown because the wire inside will look broken. Replace any burnt out fuses with new fuses rated at the same current value. The current rating of the fuse is usually written on the outside and it will generally be a number like 10, 15, or 20. Most of the time the fuses are color coded by current rating. You can buy new fuses at any auto parts store, or if you're lucky there will be a few spare fuses inside the fuse box. I hope this advice helps you out.

sounds the like the vehicle had an oem amplifier that was removed, most after market stereo installers will trace the speakers wires individually by continuity to by pass the factory amplifier and wire the new head unit to the vehicles speakers, if the harness has been spliced or factory amp removed, you will need to check if the amplifier still exists (usually under passenger rear seat sometimes located in trunk area) and see if the harness has been bypassed. if so you will have to reconnect the harness by color code in order to use the factory head unit

No sound from the speakers in my 1998 Ford

You may have a factory amplifier in the rear of the explorer in the right cargo panel. You need to supply power to it by connecting the amp power on (Blue/White I think) in the dash to a power source (such as red on your stereo harness) so it comes on with the key. That's why you have no sound.

if that ford had premium sound you have either not hooked up the factory amp or you have blown a fuse to it. you won't get sound unless that amp is hooked up.
