Brightness I recently bought the Olympus Stylus 700 and took it on a vacation with me and it worked fine, but shortly after returning, the camera began to take extremely bright pictures, in fact if there is any natural light (not produced by the flash), there is nothing but the vague outlines of some objects. I adjusted the shutter speed to little avail and even thought formatting the memory card would help. Now I have no idea what else to do, aside from taking it back for its warranty.

Hi,
Have you tried a different battery as it sounds like the battery may be a lemon? Also depending where you bought it you may be able to return or exchange it still.
I had the same problem and all I did was play around with the shutter .. I took a soft tooth pic and played around with the shutter, it seemed that salt from the ocean had crusted around the edges .. once removed the camera worked fine .. hope this helps
ps I had even bought another battery thinking it was the problem since when I connected the camera to the computer it worked, but I hadn't realized that when connected to the computer it's not able to take pictures, hence the shutter was not used ..
I don't have a solution we bought another camera. but our 710 is not very old and would like to get thisone fixed but will not pay $100 just to get it checked
If the camera is still under warranty then return it. If it is out of warranty then replace it There is not a likely repair option Though Olympus Customer support may advise another remedy
its the card not the camera.
i think you fingers have come into contact with the gold bits on the xd card.
try wipping the card and putting it in several times,if all fails buy your self an olympus 1gb xd card H TYPE. [email protected]
the best compact of all time was the Olympus C-70 Zoom Camera which can be found 2nd hand over ebay.
thos pictures are lost... u ken fix the problem by format...menu- setup- format...they are problems with the pictures because the camera was shaken allot...dont worry this will do it... or u ken get a card reader to get thos photos back, but the format is required
