I went to replace the top end in my ttr125 because it had now compression and smoke came out the exhaust when I hit the electric start, but when I pulled the head off I noticed my exhaust valve was bad so I order a new intake and exhaust valves, springs, and seals. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to replace the valves.

There is a frame number stamped on the frame neck. If you call a dealer they can look up the year and model using an ID microfiche. Next to the stamped frame number there should be a riveted plate with the VIN number on it . If this plate is still on your frame it also has the model number and the model year of the motorcycle clearly printed on it. All Yamaha dealers have the ability to ID your machine using the Vehicle Identification Number.

The degree of difficulty depends on your mechanical ability and the tools you have to work with. The main tool you will need is a valve spring compression tool. It is sort of like a "C" clamp and compresses the valve spring to allow the two valve cotters to be removed. Once removed the rest of the valve assembly just comes apart. Be sure to seat the new valve using valve grinding compound. When removing the head, be sure to have the piston at TDC compression. Note the position of the timing mark on the OHC gear. Don't let the chain drop into the gear box. Hook a wire to it so it can't. Please rate my answer.
