In all functions the picture quality suddenly went bad. The picture is very weak and the colors that do show look flourescent. Especially the reds, greens and blues. Going from DVD's to VHS tapes to tuning into a station has no effect on the color problem. We attempted to fix the problem using the degausing technique described in the manual to no effect. The problem first started when I plugged in our sony digital camera and went to the AUX mode. The camera's pictures would not show up. Strange patterns emerged on screen. I then went to another Emerson unit, our EWC19T3, and the pictures came in nicely.
By description it seems your set lost what is known as luminance and is processing only the color information, there is really no easy way to repair this problem without being involved in measuring some voltages and checking some components with a volt meter, there is a video processing IC and some of its functions are to process the video from all sources,an squematic is needed to check and follow the video signal, you can get the service manual at www.servicemanuals.net and the cost should be around 20.00 dollars if you downloaded it.If you are familiar with tv service you now have a place to check but if you are not too familiar and because the nature of the problem you should seek the assistance from a servicer.Let Us know how it goes and if you need more information.

We turned on the tv this morning, accidently hit the antenna button and when we returned to the picture we have the exact same color issues described.
