Question about JVC AV-27720 27" TV

4 Answers

Jvc AV-27720 I have this tv and the screen has gone black with the picture consisting of one line of the screen being it. I read that because when I would hit the side the entire screen would come back in the past, although that is no longer working, it could be the vertical amplifier. The problem is I am not sure where that is and how to locate it. Please help. I can't really afford a new tv at the moment.

The vertical IC is usually a LA7832. from what you are describing im guessing that you have some bad solder connections

the LA 7832 has 8 pins and is screwed onto a heat sink. usually close to the large flyback transformer

In my case the solution for this problem was the transistor replacement. The jonction E-C and B-E was bad. Rplacer by the ECG 2331 part on NTE.

There are different shapes of vertical output Ic's,the most popular is about 1.5" wide,it has 10 pins coming from one side thru the board and soldered to the chassis,it is mounted in a heat sink, the problem was intermitant maybe because one or more of the pins needed to be resoldered but sometimes after a while the IC gets damaged and it needs to be replaced but I will try resoldering it first and if that does not work then replace it,if the IC went bad it might have taken the safety resistor that gives him power, keep this in mind if you replace it and you still get a line across. If you are familiar with tv service you can check all the conections being carefull the set is not plug in and staying away from the high voltage lead wich is the thick red wire that goes from the chassis to the back of the picture tube.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

JVC flatscreen tv model Number AV-21mt35 with vertical interference? how to solve this problem?

It will be best to replace its Line Output Transformer [LOT]. It is not good to join the broken EHT wire. EHT arcing cannot be stopped by using glue.

Look in middle of board for C926 or location like that--it should be 1000 mfd at 35 volts--fails a lot in these sets.

Tv has a flat light across the middle of the screen. thats all it will do.

Very common issue is bad connections on the vertical output IC. If you can tap on the main board and the picture starts working or you see it flash to a full picture intermittently then you will need to re solder the IC. The location I believe is IC1421 on it should be near a connector and wires that are yellow and green in color. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...

Sound is fine, picture not

You have a vertical deflecttion chip that is going bad. Probably a LA7832. There is also a good chance that you have a leaky capacitor and bad zener diode. The capacitor is east to get , the zener diode part # is MTZJ75. These repairs are usually best left to a professional

The only thing that happens is the red power light is flashing

The Vertical output ic is bad la7832 also has an open resistor in power supply off of pin 7 the ic.
Root cause is probably the zener diode next to the IC itself MTZJ75

JVC AV-32F704 32" TV Picture is blurry - cannot read any writing on the screen

You didn't mention if you saw fine white diagonal lines running through the screen from top to bottom. If so, you likely have a shorted Picture Tube which is not usually fixable. If there are no lines seen running through the screen, then it is possible the High voltage transformer which also has a screen voltage and focus control built in that could be bad. I would expect the cost of that part to be about $100, so the repair cost total could approach that of a new set I would guess.
