    I have same problem...help please!

  • Anonymous Jun 15, 2008

I also have the same problem. I think it may be the motor or something has stuck in the lens (i.e sand, grit etc) making it impossible to retract

I have one of these and I dropped it with the upshot that the lens jammed.

Playing with it I found that the forward (smaller) part of the lens sits in a sort of groove in the outer part and when I manipulated it back in its worked fine ever since.

I posted the same problem on the 15th June and in the meantime I have been playing around with the camera. After holding the camera upside down and gently tapping the back of it, the lens decided to work and retract back into the camera. Not the most technical advice I know but it seemed to work.

My camera lense is stuck out and when I turn on the camera it makes a funny noise and says "lense error" on the screen. Is there anything I can do to fix it myself before taking it to get fixed?

Sounds like the camera lens is jammed. Before you take it to become repaired, try cleaning the crevices of the lens module to make sure there isn't any loose dirt or debris in there. Try applying very gentle pressure to the lens and see if it retracts or moves.
If it still won't budge, it's probably an internal problem with the mechanism retracting the lens, there's not much you can do but send it off to get fixed.
Cheers!

Lens is stuck out, makes clicking noise and then peeps and screen states Lens Error, restart camera. But everytime I start it it does the same thing, what can I do

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

Error 18

The "E18" error code indicates an error that involves the lens unit or lens cover. This error may appear where the lens is prevented from properly extending or retracting such as, for example, when pressure is applied to the lens or the area surrounding the lens while handling the camera. The error may also be displayed if the lens unit/camera has been subjected to an external shock, or if a foreign substance (i.e. liquid, sand, dirt) enters the camera. Solution Check the following when you operate the camera to avoid applying pressure to the lens and surrounding area: - Hold the camera so that your fingers do not touch the lens unit when you are shooting. - Make sure the camera is off before you put it back in the case. Exercise caution to ensure that the camera does not accidentally power on while the camera is stored inside the case.
