Question about SmartDisk FireLite 40 GB Hard Drive
SOURCE: Dropped SmartDisk
Depending upon how hard the jar was to the internal mechanism, the data may be salvageable. I would guess that the first problem is broken connections at the USB connector. This case is just snapped together with a laptop drive in it. Carefully open it up and look for anything broken.
Worse case scenerio, you can get an adapter to plug the drive into a standard IDE cable inside your tower system.

2 days ago I accidently dropped my 80 GB smartdisk firelite model # USBFLB80-C. When I plug it to my laptop , the indicator light comes on for 5-7 seconds and turn off.The humming noise is still there but the laptop does not recognize it and ask to check connections etc.
I'm overseas now and dead in the water with out getting access to the stored data.I also would like to know when I go to the USA next week who do I talk to besides BestBuy who are of no help.
Please advise ASAP
THANK YOU
