I have installed my webcam and it seems to be working fine when I open the labtec webcam program from the start menu. However when I try to use it in conjunction with MSN Live Messenger I get a black fuzzy screen rather than my image. Is there a solution?

Does the cam work ok if you try to record a short video clip in Windows Movie maker 2(programme that comes with Win XP). This way if it records and plays back ok you will know if it's the cam or it isn't set up correctly in MSN Live. Also check the settings on the cam, it may be a light problem. Hope this narrows it down for you.

Had the same problem... Here's how I solved the problem...
But if you do this be careful... I take no responsibility...Just trying to help...
Go to your firewall settings & make sure Port number 443 Tcp & Udp are open... This gives access to secure Websites...
If you do not know how to open ports then get someone to help you
or do some reading in the internet on how to do it...
Fot windows xp just open the firewall & click exceptions then click port..
now just type in whatever name you want to call it then type in 443 as the port number & check tcp & click ok...Now go back again & do the same except this time check Udp.. After opening port 443 if it should by some chance be closed, try to use the webcam with messenger... Even if it does now work I also recommend that you go here & follow those instructions as well... http://messenger-support.spaces.live.com/blog/
Those instructions start off by helping with sign in problems but as you scroll further down the page you will find many other tips and tricks that should help... I hope this will help to solve your webcam issues.
