My razr goes through fits of dialing *88888888* on its own, jumps between screens abruptly, and dials voicemail on its on accord. The touch pad is clearly jacked...how can I take the phone apart to attempt to clear the debris that might be causing this? Is this better left to professionals? Guidance appreciated..
I had the same problem with a RAZRV3xx, with the 3 key. My solution was to blow compressed air at the keypad, so far, this works.

This sounds like the keypad got wet and the contacts got corroded - your only solution is to replace the keypad.

If it's simply doing this on it's own with out you toching any keys what so ever it could be more a software problem i would try to get a data cable, download the software update program from motorola.com and update the software. If that doesn't work then remove the cover off the back of the phone (below the battery) There along the sides you will see metal tabs. You will need to bend them upright then slowly remove the keypad from the front. Be careful as these tabs will break if stressed too much. Clean everything out and put back together and see if that helps.

This sounds like a problem with the flex keypad. Did you get it wet? It's relatively simple to replace the keypard, really. However, you're going to have to take your keypad off which means you're going to have to be very careful not to damage it. You'll have to purchase a new flex keypad. As if I didn't mention it before, www.cnn.cn has some for sale.
