Multi coloured lines all through display

My screen is covered in fine multi coloured lines. This applies in any programme although some are worse than others. My icons are all striped and any typing that do displays as black and green letters. My curser hs turned into a scratchy blot. I have checked for viruses and have run Spybot. The problem started a week ago, went away and has now returned with a vengeance. Hope you can help. Regards Marilyn

Sometimes the video cable is loose in one end and/or the pins in the cable are twisted. Try to reposition the cable or buy a new one (they are very cheap) Sadly, if you cleared that one up, then the monitor is probably faulty, try it in another computer,if it does the same you will need to take it to service.

LG LCD TV is only displaying scanning bars of colour

Is the TV in some sort of case? Like an entertainment center. Sounds like it's overheating. If you do I would try to move it and see if it still does it.
Maybe set it on a stand outside of encasement.

Why does my monitor have colored vertical lines?

Hi Shannon,

I don't have good news for you. Coloured vertical lines is a symptom of terminal failure of LCD screens. Most common in laptops, monitors, and TVs. Problem only gets worse with time with more lines appearing, then expanding to cover a whole side of the screen. 30 - 50% normally.

ViewSonic VA2226w, horizontal light coloured lines through image regardless of resolution. They get worse when the monitor has been running for a while. Display otherwise working, powers up and down fine...

The lines appearing on the screen have nothing at all to do with the resolution. If the OSD display is correct (when the LCD is not connected to the PC), then the possible issue could be the RAM. Open the PC case and check if you have more than one RAM stick. Try using one RAM at a time and swaping RAM slots to see if the display is shown correctly. Make sure that the PC is turned off and power is disconnected before you remove/ install RAM. Most of the times lines appearing on the screen are due to faulty RAM. I suggest that you may also connect the LCD with some other PC to check if the issue is with the LCD or not.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Severe noise on monitor when viewing white area

Although I still have the problem to a slight extent (very slight wavering of the vertical lines going from dark to light or white) reducing the contrast from 100% to 80% seemed to do the trick. Although this monitor is on the way out, it has lasted about 7-8 years now, at least it will keep going for a while.

Green screen

From your lines... 'Tapping the side of the monitor' Reminds me cracked solder joints. You need to check for this.
First open the Chassis and narrow down the area of the circuit board where exactly applying force makes the monitor fine and in that area of board / around that area look for cracked solders. Definitely this will help you.
