For a while now i'll go into tv room and find set turned on. at times it will turn itself off while I'm watching. nobody can seem to find anything wrong,at least till warranty is over!! It bothers me because it is very intermitant and until they are watching it happen before them, nobody believes its happening. I'm upset that while I'm on holidays or gone for a few days it will be on! I have seen it turn it turn itself on and when I've gone back later, its off! I have not seen it turn on actually, but find red light on and faint glow to picturte as it has no input because other components are off. It had been shut-off correctly when I left the room. ghosts have been suggested, but I have a hard time with that one!

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Put your hand on the back of your TV to check for overheating, if your set keeps switching itself off without warning.
Many TV sets come equipped with a safety feature that switches the power off if the set gets too warm.
Check the cooling vents located at the rear of your unit. Vents can collect dust and dirt, resulting in the fans becoming blocked and failing to work properly.
Remove dirt from the vents with a damp, clean cloth. Ensure the air conditioning is kept at adequate levels in the room where your TV is located. Keep the drapes shut on hot, sunny days to keep the room cooler.
Check the sleep-timer function on your TV if it keeps turning off. A sleep-timer is used to turn a television set off after a certain period of time has elapsed. If the sleep-timer is not turned off, your television will continue to turn itself off after a certain period of time.
If the problem persists, then a heat sink has gone bad.
The on/off button simply toggles a low voltage circuit that powers your tv. If it is dusty, it may complete the electrical circuit and send a false signal.
Take a can of compressed air, open the back and clean the dust off the circuit boards.
The most common thing is malfunction in your remote control. Try moving the remote control to another closed room, and see if it still does it. If it does... well, I know how to setup a TV to turn itself off after a period of time you set, but how to turn it on? no.
Also something, might be stupid, but I'd tell it anyways, is that someone is fooling you by ór using the remote control, ór having another remote control, and turning it on all the time.
And another thing. By "off", do you mean standby? or actually turned off by pressing the button? Because this is only if it is turned off with the remote control. If it is explicitly turned off by the button, then it might be a malfunction on your tv, meaning you could call the support of the company that makes these tv's, and if it is actually a malfunction, you could get a new tv for free, if your warranty hasn't outdated yet.
Exterior equipment attached to a standard tv cannot cause the set to switch on/off by itself.
I think you may have a power supply fault or else loose solder connections on the board, hence the "warming up" intro before the fault shows itself.
My suggestion would be a service technician if you are not familiar with electronics or TV's. Regards, JUS004
I had a friend with the same problem. He had to clean the components and fans in the set. The accumulated dust had caused the set to run hot and a safety switch was the tv off. He purchased a few cans of compressed air and, as he blew the components and fans out, used a vacuum to capture the blown dust. Good luck.
Keeps changing channel
Check voltage on D12 if below 4.8V then change
Changes channel or volume adjusts by itself
Check S900/1/2 on pcb H1, alternatively this could be due to failure of IC005 (CD4052BCM-FL63) on pcb A
