The cord ... or the switch ... or the brushes.

You will have to take the handle apart to access the end of the cord and check the switch. Test your cord with the ohm function of a volt/ohm meter.

Thanks for your question and good luck with your repair.

Makita table saw wont turn on

A failed power supply, broken on/off switch, bad motor overload, broken power cord or failed drive motor can prevent the table saw motor from starting. First, try resetting the overload. If the table saw motor won't start after resetting the overload, then the saw may not be getting power from the electrical outlet.

I have a Makita circular saw model 5007F. When plugged in the light that you follow lights up but when I pull the switch it will not do anything. I'm wondering if the switch is bad?

Check the brushes for the motor first, make sure they're in good shape, or replace them as they're fairly inexpensive, this is the most common issue, especially if you picked it up second hand, or have been using it for a while. Then, yes, I would try the switch.
Unless to motor is shot, which you might be able to smell it and tell if it's burnt, it's most likely either the brushes, or the switch. Of course, I'm presuming you're using the thumb lock out before you pull the switch ;-) but since you didn't say... and yes, there are some people... :-)

Makita miter saw wontr turn on

make sure that your outlet is hot, once verfied that you have power going to the plug of the saw cord, verify that you dont have any breaks in the cord itself. once verified no issues with cord you can check for power at the switch, if there is power at the switch but not coming on, probably bad switch.

My Makita circular power saw works then stops working, then starts again. Why is this happening?

Things to check: With the saw running, safely grab the cord by the boot and pull and twist it around. This is where a break frequently occurs inside the cord and when the saw is held in certain positions the break will either open or close. If the cord's OK, unplug the saw and remove the brush caps and check the brushes. If the brushes are less than 1/4" long or the springs are burnt or broke they won't make good contact with the armature. If the cord & brushes are OK your next recourse is to replace the switch (Makita PN 651172-0).
