My aspire one netbook says missing operating system what do i do

Press the F2, and laptop will go to the bios where you will be able to change the boot order from the hard drive to the optical drive.

hi..try to remove unplug or plug in the Hard Drive,, if cant work you or nothing happens you need to re-place the hard drive.about files theirs nothing ways to recover the files if the Hard Drive is totally defective..Thanks..and GOOD LUCK...^_^

I have three kids with the same Acer Aspire 3680-2681. All in over a year have had this. The first sat til we gave up and just tore apart. Put back together, it worked, better. Nothing done. The second, a couple months later, we just took out the hard drive, made sure it was in the correct and full way in, and it worked. This week, the third, same problem, same solution, Took out the hard drive, put it back in snuggly and it worked. It has two screws that SEEM to hold it in place but it does slip out. BEFORE you do all these other ms-dos things and other crazy time consuming file losing pictures forever gone things, try this, and bring a can of compressed air, get the dog hair and dust out while you are there.
It seems to be a small engineering thing with the screw placement and holding of the thing securely in my humble opinion.

It sounds like it is trying to boot from a network. Enter the bios by hitting the delete key during boot. First see if your hard drive is recognized. If not yours is bad. If it IS listed check the boot sequence and make sure your hard drive is first, or CD first HDD second. Save and try again. Hope this helps.
