Beckerkim, you have one of two things going here, either your blower wheel has something jammed in it or it's broken or the motor itself is shot. Check the blower wheel first make sure it's ok. You also may want to check the drum rollers to make sure they are not seized up. Catriver...post back.

Whirlpool tumble dryer making a loud noise

the dryers drum that spins around is driven by a belt . A belt tensioner is attached to provide a secure fit when turning. The tensioner has a idler pully which has a bearing in it. When worn the bearing squeaks or wears out causing this noise you have. Sears sells the belt and idler pulley as a set to retify this situation you have. Instructions come with these kits

Good Morning: I have an older Kenmore Dryer with the serial # of : 77982600 and the belt broke. I can get the new belt but am wondering how it goes on. Do I have to remove the felt belt on the backside?...

dont mess with the felt on the drum... pop the top of the dryer. 2 clips hold it down.. use a screw driver to pop it. then take out screws on the front and bottom to remove the front part of dryer with the door . now put the belt around the drum put front on. then comes the fun part feeding the belt through pully tensioner good luck remove back to get to belt pully /tensioner

I just finished drying a load of clothes in my hotpoint front load dryer; & now my dryer is just making a humming noise & won't start

Is this a repeat question?

Broken belt - pop the top - remove the front ... get a new belt - put it around the drum, through the tensioner and over the motor pulley. Reassemble.

Get belt at Fixya advertiser, local appliance parts place or www.repairclinic.com

Tumble dryer

Hi Drinkben, Pull the dryer out and disconnect the power. Pop the top up and raise it like the hood of a automobile. The Front that the door is hing from will either pop off or you may have to remove screws to get the front to come loose. Once the top and front are dsilocated, you can clear the old belt. Put the new belt over the drum and raise the drum a bit to allow the belt to go undeneath. Thread the belt so that it araps the tensioner and around the motor pully. Roll the drum by hand to besure the belt tensions properly. Then reassemble the dryer. Plug n the power cord, and slide it into place. This is an Easy job to do and with your Ingenuity , I am sure this will help you complete the task.
