My Vostro 1400 (2.4ghz, 4GBDDR2) is now working fine .. The keyboard typing lag was unbearable .. Anywho what i did was:
1) GOTO http://www.mlin.net/
2) CLICK STARTUP CONTROL PANEL
3) DOWNLOAD STARTUP CONTROL PANEL (ITS A ZIP FILE)
4) CLICK ON the .exe file
5) GOTO CONTROL PANEL
6) CLICK "Startup"
7) CLICK ON THE TAB THAT READS "HKLM/Run"
8) UNCHECK "PCM Service"
9) Restart the PC
& there you go .. Problem Solved ..
Now I've got no lag in typing what so ever!! Yaye!!
All the best,

I've had the same problem, thought failed hard drive. New drive, reinstalled windows, same prob. Thought keyboard mouse may be bad but didn't want to wait to order replacement parts, tried looking for ATI hotkey to disable, none found running, thought maybe bios needed update so in an attempt to update bios I removed the battery & ran solely on ac power & Voila! keystroke & mouse pad delay gone, all works perfectly! Bad battery. Hopefully when I get a replacement battery I can update the bios, but not a pressing issue since everything works perfectly without it anyway. Hope that helps someone out there.

My fujitsu siemens amilo pi 2530's keyboard laggs badly,I mean it laggs everywhere in a game, web browser, notepad, command promt everywhere! And it doesn't seem to be a physical issue, I believe that somewhere in the system...
I tried the programs and ways mentioned in this thread but nothing worked, because I couldn't find the file or the service... Please help!

Brennasmom - I just found this forum. If you are still having the keyboard lag problem, it has been discussed at length at the Dell forum here: http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=insp_general&thread.id=257203
In a nut shell, do not allow PCMservice.exe or the HotKey service (one or the other) from loading when the notebook boots up.

Usually answered in minutes!
That could be one cause to that problem, but i doubt it would be my case, i've got 1Gb ram.
I've solved my problem, the keyboard had some kind of problem and i've traded it in the store. There were some keys not working too...
I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with a typing lag. Very annoying. This is my 2nd one since I tried for HOURS with Dell Support to fix the problem without success. They sent me a 2nd laptop which arrived with the same exact problem. Now they want to charge me to fix the problem!!
Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
I have the same problem.
When you press the same key few times the 2nd+ press is ignored.
For example when I type "www" i get "w", or "data" = "dat" (no 2nd A).
Unfortunately I already buyed all 10 keyboards in the store and can't replace them.
This is *NOT* because of drivers or ram.
I tested all keyboards on all of my computers (Win XP/Vista/Linux/DOS/Solaris). On 3 computers i have 4GB ram and the keyboard ignore keys even without any installed OS (in BIOS).
