Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Hp c6180 all-in-one error message 83c00020

While scanning for transmitting a fax on the c6180 unit it stopped and the error code 83c00020 came on the screen. Since then it will not work any more.
I can push the on-off button and it does not cut the unit off.

Thanks for your suggestion. Would you believe that I solved the described problem by holding down the "OK" button at the same time as the "ON-OFF" button on the printer console. I had checked the HP trouble shooting data ans had talked to technicans. Prayer works with solutions from God.

my hp smart printer 2570 displayed the number 83c00020 and wouldnt do anything i read a blog that said hold down the ok button as well as the on/off button and it cleared it.

Hello,

Try unplugging the printer from power for about 10 minutes and then reconnect it and see if that will reset it. You mentioned the error code 83c00020 is that on the printer screen or somewhere else?
I wasn't able to find that exact error is that the way the error actually displayed?

I finally cleared the blue screen 83C00020 error message on my HP Photosmart Premium C-309a printer by depressing both the Power and Red Eye Removal buttons at the same time. HP Support had told me I had a "hardware" problem and were willing to sell me a new printer at half price. I said "no thanks" and started searching for solutions others may have found. I noticed that some had tried the "two-button" approach, and, through multiple trials I finally discovered the solution that worked for me. I hope this information will be helpful to someone because I know how badly I felt when my machine had so completely failed. I am very greatful for these wonderful postings because they gave me the clue I needed. Thank you.

The error code 83c00020 appears when the printhead of the system fails. Fix the error by resetting it and changing the printhead of the printer. Follow the steps below to fix it.
Step 1: Turn on the printer and remove the power cord from it.
Step 2: Leave the printer for 60 seconds.
Step 3: Connect the power cord back to the printer.
Step 4: The printer should turn on automatic
Step 5: If the printer does not turn on automatically, then do it manually.
Step 6: Open the cartridge access door.
Step 7: Remove the printhead out of it and keep it aside for recycling.
Step 8: Buy the original printhead accessory from the HP website.
Step 9: Replace the printhead and close the cartridge access door.
Step 10: Following the above steps should have fixed the error.

Solved! I now can scan wirelessly throughout my network. I downloaded the drivers for a friends newer HP all-in-one scanner and I can scan. Look for the driver for the 309a series of printers and install it. Complete the install and set up your existing printer. You can now scan, print, fax wirelessly. It includes updated HP apps for these functions that work with OS 10.5. I didn't upgrade to the HP 1.1 drivers through Apple. The file name is: PS_AIO_05_C309a_Net_Full_Mac_WW_102.dmg

HP Photosmart 6180: error code:83C00020?

I cannot get the unit to work at all, it will not turn on or off. On the display screen I get the error message 83C00020 and the memory card light continues to blink on and off. I will not print, scan,fax or copy. I cannot override, I have tried the # and 6 reset but to no avail. I have called tech support and they said it was a 'hardware' problem that could not be fixed at home. Of course, they wanted to sell me a new printer!?! Any suggestions? I am stumped and frustrated.

Hi,
I can advise you on the 'memory full' problem, mate.

If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning the first page of a fax, press Stop to cancel the scan. If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning in a subsequent page, you’ll have the option to press Start to transmit the pages scanned
so far, or to press Stop to cancel the operation. In this case, send the fax by the Manual Transmission.
Depending on your typical faxes, MEMORY FULL errors can occur frequently. If this happens, change the Memory Transmission setting back to OFF.
To do this:

Press Function/Set, 3, 9.
This should take you to MEMORY TX
and MEMORY TX: ON?
Then press either the left or the right arrow (< or >) to switch on or off, and press Function/Set.
For the next fax transmission only, press < or > to select
NEXT FAX ONLY and press Function/Set.

This will mean you don't add any more to the memory and may be able to send faxes. There is a possibility that you will only be able to fax using manual transmission, but at least you should be able to use the machine to fax at all!

I apologise if the jargon is confusing, just try to go through the process one step at a time and you should be fine.

Hi,

Check the following steps:

Connect the printer directly to the wall outlet and

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord

Try to check the result.

Issue An 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel. The printer cannot copy, receive faxes, or print. Solution

Press the On button to turn the printer off.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
Remove all the ink cartridges.
Wait two minutes.
Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
Press the On button to turn the printer on.
Install the ink cartridges when prompted.

If the error code does not display, the issue is resolved. If the 0xc18xxxxx or 0xc19xxxxx ink system error code displays on the front panel, service the printer. Here is a manual if you dont already have one. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00486336.pdf
