Question about Rinnai RHFE-1004FA 38,400 BTU Energy Saver Ductless Heater - LP Gas

1 Answer

Error 11 code

Hello, Thought that I would post a question concerning my 4 year old Rinnai RHFE-1004FA(LP) wall furnace. A few days ago the unit was shutting down with an Error 11 code. I have been doing the maintainence cleaning of this unit since we had it and hadn't had a chance this year so I went ahead and took off the front panel and got rid of the dust, etc. After cleaning it up and putting it back together, it has been running fine for over 24 hrs. There were a few things I noticed while I was in there that I wanted to ask about. First, a small clear plastic tube that was connected to the exhaust port (I think) wasn't seated as well as it should, which I re-seated. Could have this been the culprit? The other thing that I noticed was that gas line #2 was not nearly a snug withing the fitting where it attaches to the burner. The other two lines have no sway, but this one you can move, even though the nut is snug to the housing. Is this a concern, and should I perhaps have someone look at it? Past that, the unit is running fine now. Thanks. WK

If the gas lines are moving or vibrating regularly, especially as they get older there is a possibility of fracture, so I would get them tethered properly. if no obvious vibration or risk of movement then they are probably fine if you are sure there are no leaks other than that i just found this manual earlier on for another user: - hopefully it can answer your questions http://www.rinnai.us/Rinnai.aspx/FileLibrary.aspx/DealerResources.aspx/DocumentsLibrary.aspx/WallFurnacesDirectVentMainHeatSource.aspx/RHFE1004FA.aspx/GeneralInformation.aspx/456RHFE1004FAManual32003.pdf.aspx Hope this helps :)

My Rinnai 1004F giving me error code 99

This fusible link may be open. Try jumpering the two leads and see if the unit operates. If it does replace the fusible link. Do not operate the unit without the fusible link for an extended period. It is a safety device and is there for a reason. Hope this helps.

Rinnai 1004 F Error Code 11

Code 11 is that the unit is trying to light but does not sense a flame after 5 seconds. Usually means you have run out of gas if you are bottled gas. Check your bottles are turned on if you are on LPG, you might need to change over manually. Have you anything else on gas?

The furnace shuts itself off.

Is it giving you any error codes? Can you give us any more details like how do you get it started or is there a noise associated with the failure?

I have a trouble code 11 on my Rinnai model 2532 water heater which indicates no ignition. I checked for gas supply by turning the furnace on which is approx. 1 ft. away, it works. The water heater is...

11 is a ignition failure code. Could be alot of things, I suggest calling a tech who has repaired these before. Pull the front cover off and have a helper turn on a hot water faucet. Look thru the viewing window to see if the unit is firing then going out. If not, clean out the water filter on the inlet side of the plumbing. You will need to turn off the water supply prior to cleaning it. If the unit fires but shuts off seconds after ignition, you may have a dirty or bad sensor. Call a proffessional at this point. Sorry

I'd like information on the reliability of Rinnai 1004FA furnaces. Do they need regular cleanings?

Beside the filters in the back, no they don't require much. After 8 years of installing and servicing these units, I haven't found a unit yet that was running faulty due to lack of service. Would recommend a cleaning of the burners about every 3-5 years. Rinnai recommends cleaning the unit with compressed air through the front grate annually...but that doesn't require disassembly
