Question about Sony KP-57WV600 57" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
After about a year, the TV started showing green arches, from the top of the screen they drooped down and from the bottom they arched up. They were not prominent but really noticeable when the picture was dark. Recently it started to flash green on the screen and will eventually shut itself off. I removed the wooden panel in the back to take a look and on the back of the green projector, the card has a light. when the TV flashes green the light comes on. It seems the card on the back of the tube might be faulty but wanted to verify this prior to trying to replace it. Has anyone else seen this problem? any input would be appreciated
If you see a neon light in the crt board and it lights up is because the green picture tube is arking inside, the light is supposed to do that and is why is there, the only way to correct the problem is by replacing the picture tube and it can be costly sometimes, there is another way but this will not take care of the problem for good,it might go away for a while but it might return,is hard to tell if it might work, what you need to do is lift the set from the ground about 3 inches and drop it,sometimes just by doing it once it works ,other times it takes more than once,do not over do it or something else might break,is an option you dont have to take and you still have the option to replace the tube.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

Your rating response is also important.
The neon is suppossed to light up so the tube doesnt take the damaging ark,as far as the green lines I think the screen control for the green is a little too high,in the set there is a block know as high voltage distribution block and it has 6 adjustable controls 3 on top for the focus for each color and 3 on the bottom for the screen controls for each color, the block is about 3x3"square,do not touch the focus controls and need to find the one for the green screen control, turn it down just a little and the lines you see will disappear. Is something you can do easiely.Let Us know if you need more information.

It worked beautifully on mine - takes about 1/2 hour and a screwdriver

Actually there is a bulb mounted on the card that lights up not the tube itself.
When I first read the solution I was thinkingPick up a 57" TV is this guy nuts? but I lifted one side just a little and set it down "firmly" and it appears to have solved the problem with the arcing in the green tube. I still have the problem of the slightly visible green arches when the screen is dark but I can live with that unless someone knows a solution to that as well. Thanks for the input....

After 1 year it started again. Then last night, now it appears the green is out completely. is it possible the green tube is bad? When I look at the menu there is no green color at all and all the channels look red. How do I determine if the green tube is blown? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
i turn the tv on it go green then blank but has sound its a kp-57wv600

Awesome explanation and great photos. Unfortunately my set has a bad green tube and no more adjustments will make it work. Italy Sony repairs are expensive so I will take it to the shop after I return to the US. Thanks for the informative link though.
