DVD recorder -- displays blue horizontal lines only

I have a Samsung DVD-R4000 DVD recorder/player which was trouble-free until it suddenly failed -- the only image seen on the TV is blue horizontal lines, with a small horizontal band in the center which contains a distorted image of the DVD (or the TV channel to which the unit is tuned). It is unresponsive to commands from the unit, or the remote, except for Power (on and off). Have tried using it with another TV, using commercial DVDs instead, used unit as a tuner -- just blue lines. Nothing found on Samsung site, or in the manual. Ideas?

Most DVD players today are very inexpensive.
If your system is working well otherwise, I suggest purchasing a new DVD player. Try that solution. If for any reason it does not work then another problem may exist which may include an issue with your TV!

SOURCE: I have purchased a Samsung

Forget the mHz channels for now.

On the TV, or TV remote, look for a button that is labeled "Input" or "Video" or something like that. Depending on your TV, there might be a few choices that present themselves once you do this, such as "Video 1", "Video 2", etc. Keep going until you find what looks like the DVD player signal.

If there is no button as described, then look for another button on the TV remote or on the TV labeled "Menu". Then scroll thru the menu until you find "Input". Choices here might be "Cable", "Antenna", "Video". You'll want to choose "Video", or "A/V", or "Line".
