Question about Kenmore 15899 Built-in Dishwasher

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher Problem

Hello, I have a Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher and it will not run. It is about 3 years old and if I try to push any of the 5 buttons on the left side that chooses the cycle type, only two of the LED lights will come on when pressed for pots and pans and normal wash. If I choose normal wash(one of the only two selections that I can apparently select) and press start nothing happens, the light will go off, but no evidence of the cycle attempting to start. The only other buttons that are active on the machine is the ability to turn on and off the wash lock and the cancel/drain button. I thought it could possibly be a fuse or a bad keypad, so I checked the fuse and it was fine and I'm not sure how to check the keypad. Any help would be greatly appreciated with any helpful information, Thanks!

There is no real way of checking the keypad. Not with a meter but if you push normal wash for example and it does not respond this usually means that you have a bad keypad

check the float in the inside of the dishwasher if there is a problem with the float it will shut the water off and do nothing. open the door the float is either in the front right/left make sure it is down as far as it can go.

check wire nuts that were used to install power cord/it is on the right hand side of toe kick if ok there is a fuse on the control that you can replace located top of door

when you hear the motor running during the wash cycle, check to see if the washer is actually draining instead of washing. this would indicate a stuck open drain valve. (the same motor/pump that washes the dishes, also drains the unit)

I suspect for either of these units that the timer control boards are bad.

How old is this dishwasher and the complete model number is?
You said, you have a Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher, and you have power running to it, but when you shut the door on it...it still won't start a cycle. Does it have a reset button on it? Any ideas on a solution?

Yes, you may try this to reset the system.
Go to the breaker and switch it off for 5 minutes and the on and try it. It usually resets the systems.

call sears, 1-800-4MY-HOME. They have a trouble-shooting department that will get rid of this problem. It is caused by water temperature being wrong at the start of the cycle.... blah, blah, blah. The representative will tell you to push a certain set of buttons in a certain order and that unlocks the dishwasher.

Kenmore Dishwasher displays the number "98"

I have a very similar problem. When I push a wash selection, every light on the panel shows up...and when I push Start, nothing happens. When I push cancel, it trys to drain, even tho no water is in there any more. Have you ever had an answer to your problem?

I have a Kenmore 665 about 3 years old
Over the last couple months the touch pads have stopped working and I am now down to one control the water miser!
Do I need a new control pad and is that easy to install ?
