Microwave dead - what to do now?

Hey! I just bought a GE profile microwave two months ago. When I went to start it, it died. I pulled it out of its space and hooked it up to another outlet that I knew was working, and it didn't start up. Any suggestions?

My keypad is also dead.

No, but as with all electronic items faulty ones typically show themselves up during the first few months of use.

You've probably just been one of the unlucky ones.

GE Sensor Microwave JES1855 died

Mine went dead after about 6 months. I had problems with my breakers and I found out that it was the microwave that blew all of them. I also found out that this perticular microwave is a fire hazard and should be recalled. It has caused me alot of headache. The breakers in my house are brand new and they are put out by GE also. It caused me to loose the food in my freezer, I did not know my freezer had lost power. It would cause my entire lights to go off and then they would come back on. I have checked around and I found out that the power cord on the back of the unit is very loose. I had a person to come in and look at it, he thinks its the power cord.

GE PROFILE SPACEMAKER P/NO 8114-334-730 MICROWAVE TOTALLY DEAD!

Sorry Seanna, but I have been getting a lot of problems with GE microwaves. You can call customer care at 800-432-2737, but out-of-warranty repairs are very expensive. Sounds like your problem may be door latch circuitry which requires service. If your unit is old, consider replacing it as prices are very reasonable.

No heat

COINCIDENCE? Yes... :) So go buy another one, it'd probably be cheaper than getting the bad one repaired.

Dead GE Spacemaker

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the thermostat to open.

When it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

If it's random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or fuse holder.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.
