You have to use a sequence of the brake, on/off/on, for 3-5 seconds at a time, in order for it to play. Want an easier way? Try this:
This will work with out haveing to do anything to the pink wire just
tape it and leave it alone. But the next time you unhook ur battery
cable you will have to put the code in again. Put in DVD right when the blue screen comes up hit STOP twice punch in 1,2,6, and 4 hit DOWN 1 time not 2 hit PLAY/ENTER **at this point the display became visible and i could now see the menu which made it much easier. hit DOWN one more time to change macrovision hit PLAY/ENTER hit SYS SETUP twice to save and exit menu
I did it on mine and it works perfectly - no more messing with switches and ebrakes:)

Get a toggle switch and have a ground wire and take that ground wire and put it on the on side of the switch and take the parking break wire that's coming from the dvd player and out it in the off side and
On bypasses you can either hook the parking brake wire straight to ground, if that does not work you can install a toggle switch between the parking brake wire and ground so you can mimic the parking brake on off.
on your main screen, change your source to "A/V In".. you should get a black screen. Touch the upper right corner of the touch screen and it'll pull up a number menu. Type in "7253" then hit OK. from there, there's a choice that says "brake" hit the right arrow till it says off. Then you're off and runnin SON!
You should have a wire on the harness labeled Parking Brake (or similar). This wire needs to be connected at the parking brake....or to a toggle switch. It needs to sense a ground after the radio is powered on in order to play DVDs.
There is a wire included in the harness, which needs to be connected to a ground I think it was called "PARK" or something. Just turn on the radio with a dvd in it, while touching the excess wires to a ground. You'll quickly have it in hand.
This was done as a safety feature to ensure you're not driving while watching a DVD.
turn on the player, start the radio option, go into the setup menu, tap the language tab, ON THE REMOTE press "stop, stop, 5,4,3,2,1" This will bring up the secret menu, you do not need to connect the pink wire
If your getting the "Can't view dvd in drivers view must apply parking brake" you need to recheck your ground. You might want to try another location for the ground. If the unit is VM9410 you can simply ground the parking brake wire and you'll be good to go.
