Machine sews 2 stitches and then the bobbin shudders. I removed the metal panel on cover for bobbin and cleaned. Checked the rotation of the bobbin and tried again. Same problem. Haven't had any problems before and I love the machine. Help......
The bobbin problem is intermitent, but when it malfunctions the bobbin jumps around in the holder and jams. Have tried changing the bobbin as well as the thread, and checked to make sure it was threaded correctly. I've also cleaned any lint out of the race. However being only two years old and not used regularly, I found very little. I've been very dissatisfied with this product because it's not dependable. The bobbin problem is intermitent, but when it malfunctions the bobbin jumps around in the holder and jams. Same problem here, happens once in a while. Still can't fix it. I know the top thread is getting caught on the sharp point of the hook race and that causes the problem. But how to fix? Sometimes it just corrects itself when I shut off machine and turn back on. This time nothing works: not cleaning, taking apart, turning off, changine needle. If it is a mechanical machine (not computerized), it probably needs oil. Old oil turns to glue and seizes the moving parts.
Use either fresh good quality sewing machine oil or pick up some Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube. Open the top of the machine, the cover over the left side, and the bottom bobbin area. Gently wiggle the handwheel and apply 1-2 drops of oil every place metal rubs on metal--do NOT oil belts, synthetic parts, Cams. You can follow up with hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the internal mechanism.
Your mechanical machine needs regular oiling--on the hook/shuttle every 8 hours of use, all over (as described above) every 40 hours of use, or every 6 months if in storage.
Do you have a manual? Most Janomes have a sealed oil system meaning you don't ever oil anything besides the little wick under the bobbin case, just one drop now and then.
The bobbin thread on my Janome 9000 is showing in the stitching. The bobbin thread pulls over to the left when sewing a zig or multi zig zag stitch. What to adjust?
Try loosening both top and bottom tension. while longer stitches are easier, it can be done on shorter stitches as well. A bennifit to shorter stitches is the gathers will be smaller and easier to work with! Remember to reset the bobbin tension before sewing again.
SP means that the bobbin winder has been pushed to the right in preparation for winding the bobbin. Just click the winding post to the left till it clicks, and the stitch number will be displayed.
