Hi,
I tunes is looking for a hard drive so that it can sync. Try downloading the iPod shuffle utility restore tool. It is just for iPods and it is free. After you download it and install it in your computer, start it, plug your iPod into the computer and it should restore it to factory specs. You may have to try it multiple times - just be patient. I hope that helps.

Ipod classic won't sync with itunes 10

Restarting your computer is often the solution when your iPod fails to sync with your iTunes music library. But if this fails, there are other troubleshooting steps to take.

Recharge your iPod via a USB cable connected to your computer or AC adapter. b> Click the help menu in iTunes and check for updates. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the latest version of the software. Open the new version of iTunes. Click the name of your iPod in the source list and check for updates under the summary tab to update your iPod. Attempt to sync your iPod with iTunes. Slide your iPod's hold switch to the hold position and then to off. Press and hold the menu and center buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears to reset your iPod. Open iTunes on your computer and reconnect your iPod to try to sync it with iTunes. Restart iPod service b> Close iTunes and make sure your iPod is disconnected from the computer. Click the 'start' button. Click 'run' if using Windows XP. Type 'services.msc' in the run box in XP and in the search box in the start menu in Windows 7 and Vista. Press 'enter.' Scroll through the list and double-click on 'iPod service.' Click the 'stop' button and leave the properties window open. Connect your iPod to the computer. Open 'my computer' or 'computer' and look for your iPod listed in the devices with removable storage section. Click the 'start' button in the iPod Service's properties window. Open iTunes to attempt to sync your iPod. Close the iPod Service's properties window once your iPod has finished syncing. Resolve "Original File could not be Found" Double-click the name of a song in the iTunes program that failed to sync to your iPod. Click 'yes' or 'locate' to the message asking you if you want to locate the file. Navigate to the folder or directory location where the song is stored on your computer. Double-click the song file to select it and add it back to iTunes. Reconnect your iPod to the computer and open iTunes to restart the syncing process. I cant download to my ipod i cant get sync in itunes..how do i download songs to my ipod

You just need to import your songs into iTunes library, then make a playlist with the songs, connect your iPod to computer, iTunes will detect the iPod automatically, then click iTunes menu "File -> Sync iPod", the songs will be transferred from iTunes to iPod.
If iTunes not works for you, You may try this ipod transfer, it's a nice iTunes alternative that can help you manage iPod files including delete, upload, play, copy, etc. It's much easier to use than iTunes.

Tracks disappeared from ipod after sync

when you sync the ipod itunes only syncs what you select.
it is possible your music list got uncheck or you had checked only synced check songs.
what happens then is the sync will replace you full library with only the songs checked.
when you connect to itunes and see the summary page. on the tabbed line just above the main contents window choose music.
look at your settings and see how it is set up.
set it to sync all music
then it will sync all the songs on your playlists every time.

you can also add and delete music by on your summary page uncheck automaticallu sync music.

then you can click on your music folder of your ipod and drag and drop song to the first column of the contents window. if you have any problems let me know

Loading music on mp3 suffle style player

All of you posted this question under model # GPX ML648B, so my directions only apply to that particular model - every mp3 player is different:
To transfer music, use Windows Media Player - in order to transfer the songs without getting an error message, I would switch the player to MTP mode; and I would only add songs that are in mp3 format. Even though this player will read SOME WMA's, it would take me a whole page to explain which ones would work and which ones wouldn't.

For the person who said that they have some sort of iPod - download the iTunes music service - it will recognize your iPod and you will see the icon listed on the left-hand side of the iTunes window. Once you have purchased songs, you can transfer them to the iPod using the iTunes service.

Cant delete songs off my ipod

Two possible solutions:

Solution 1. Go to iTunes, go to Edit, Select All, go to Edit once again, select Delete. This will clear your whole music library. Connect you iPod and let it sync. It will delete everything in your iPod. The problem with this is that it will delete all your music in iTunes as well so you better back it up elsewhere.

Solution 2. Go to iTunes, connect your iPod, let it sync. Do not disconnect your iPod. On the left hand side of the screen you will see "Library", "Store", "Devices", etc. Go to "Devices" and you will see your iPod's name there. Click on it and you will see on the right hand side of your screen your iPod, with some menus tabs. On the first tab (Summary), make sure that "Sync only checked songs" is activated. Then go to the second tab ("Music"). Make sure "Sync music" is activated and "Selected playlists" is also activated. Make sure NONE of the playlists is activated. At the bottom right hand side of the scree there is a button that says "Sync". Press it and it will sync no songs into your iPod. That should clear the songs but leave the contents in iTunes intact. If you want to put some playlists in your iPod, then check only those and only those will be added to your iPod.

Hope this helps.
