Canon Elura 60 - Zoom is on maximum and won't restore. I own Canon Elura 60 since last two years and now i'm facing problems with zoom. Zoom button does go to and fro but actual zoom doesn't take effect. Also print share blue light is continuosly ON (of course when camcorder is On). I tried everything in their user manual but no luck. One observation is both zoom and share button are very close by.:) Appreciate any fixes for the same. Thanks Ravi

I too have the same issue. Honestly, the only solution that I have found for it is to knock on the top of the camera where the button is located. The PHOTO button on my camera stops working at times also. The knocking normally fixes that too.

Hi There, did you find any resolution for this problem? If you could share any info about the problem, it will be really great. Even I have the same issue with my Elura 70. Thanks.. Pradeep

My canon elura 60 when open my video cam it zoom automatically and the zoom lever dont work.

The zoom assembly will need to be replaced. This repair should be done by an experienced technician. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix that you can do yourself.

Hope this helps you.

Zoom problem

The zoom is stuck. Smack the bottom of the camera with the palm of your hand. Worked like a charm for me.

Zoom button of canon elura minin dv

I had a similar problem. Searching Google for a solution, I came across the old -- "if it doesn't work, smack it" trick:

Remove any tape in the camera.
Remove the battery.

With your hand holding the top of camera, hit it firmly with a book on the bottom. I used about a 200 page paperback.

I suspect it is a electro-mechanical switch that gets stuck in the "On" position, and a little jolt frees it up again.

I have done this twice in the last month, and it works great.

Stuck on zoom

Short-term : smack it like others suggested. Long-term get it fixed by Canon.

Elura 60 Zoom Problem

Guys, so weird but on another site it offered this suggestion: banged the base of your camera against something hard and it will become unstuck. So bang the base of your camera against something hard and it will work again, at least it works like it did but not sure for how long. Good luck. I can't believe that worked. Give it a try. I didnt hit it too hard either.

Canon Elura 60 zooms by itself

Listen, I know it's a couple of years after this post but, try this: Remove cassette, push to close, close camera as if to use it, hold firmly in left hand, open hand slap it with your right hand once or twice, (I'm not joking) it worked the two times I had this problem. Problems with the zoom? Almost same process, push firmly on zoom button (to un-zoom) try doing this as your tapping it. These are last ditch efforts on an aging camera, it really has been a good one. I've put this poor thing through years of abuse, and it's held up pretty well. Good luck, Jeff S.

Zooming problem

I have the same problem. I have no fix in rec mode but if it happens during playback; press menu and select the zoom options. You don't have to pick any but just keep the menu displayed on the screen. I do this while recording the tape to my DVD recorder and it solves the locked zoom problem. The menu display does not get recorded.
This zoom problem is a big pain. We should start a class action suit against Canon. It started within a year of ownership with mine. I bought a Panasonic recently and haven't looked back.
Panasonic doesn't have the slick Canon marketing/packaging but it is a much better machine.
