I keep get a check engine light a p1441 that says system flow during non purge; i fixed a cracked line to the purge selonoid from the throttle plate ,put a used sensor on the canister under the ecm ,put a a new gas tank in the car because of a pinhole in the tank and when i did that i put in a new vapor sensor to be safe and also tried a used purge selonoid on the engine but to no success after clearing the codes after each attempt it still comes back on when the monitors kick in a couple days later. so what am i missing? thanks

1996 pontiac firebird 5.7 liter engine light on po1441

Two choice dudes code there...

DTC P0441 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
EVAP emission canister purge is contolled by a valve which allows engine vacuum to pull stored fuel vapors from fuel tank into the engine to be burned, rather than be vented to atmosphere. A vacuum switch is used to detect when flow exists. If the PCM commands purge and sees that the switch is closed (indicating no detected purge flow) P0441 is set.
With a P0441 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:
  • Common Chrysler fix - Replace Leak Detection Pump / LDP
  • Repair damaged EVAP lines or canister
  • Repair open or short in voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
  • Repair open in PCM purge command circuit
  • Replace purge Solenoid
  • Replace vacuum switch
  • Repair restriction in Evap line or canister or soleniod
  • Repair resistance in purge connector
  • Replace PCM

ost generally caused by a purge valve stuck open. the only way to diag for sure is with a gm tech 2 scan tool and a smoke machine. but if dont mind spending a few bucks as a good quess. Replace the purge valve.

Hope this helps.

Wont start and trouble code is p1441

P1441 Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge.

The vacuum system/Evaporative recovery system. Evap. (vapor cannister) code MAY be as a result of excessive fuel flow into the cylinders overloading the cannister's capacity. Possible cause is a failing Oxygen sensor giving a "Lean" indication to the engine computer, causing more fuel than is needed to be injected into the cylinders and captured by the vapor system. Trying to keep track of the changing readings may be taxing the computer's memory. Have the oxygen sensor checked. If it is functioning correctly, check for vacuum leaks, cracked or broken vacuum hoses.

Take you car to a professional as this is going to take some skill and knowledge to repair. Dont keep buying parts to fix the problem as this will get very expensive.

Check engine light, code p1441

This is the OBD II code to indicate EVAP system flow during non-purge. Sometimes this is caused by not completely screwing in the fuel cap.
Reset the code (or have it reset), and be sure to always fully tighten the fuel cap. If the problem persists it is caused by a leak in the fuel tank or line.
Check the following:
  • Faulty fuel cap
  • Leak in fuel tank/fuel lines

Where is the purge solenoid location on a 1996 Chevrolet silverado 1500 ???? trucks runs bad and I was told it was that or some other vacuum leak also I have code p0300 and p1441 if anyone can help...

A P0300 DTC is a misfire code. The P1441 is a no flow during purge code which has to do with the purge solenoid. With the misfire code present I would say you have a vacuum leak on one of the hoses. The purge solenoid is located in the passenger side, rear of the intake manifold.

96 Buick Century can't pass imisions code P1441

P1441, EVAP Emissions System Flow During Non-Purge.
you seem to have an evap problem these problems are hard to diagnose sometimes it can only be the gas cap or maybe rust around the seat of the gaz cap
get the code erase and see if it comes back on and if it does check gas cap and arroung the filling neck if there is rust if no visible rust apears you will have to get it check with smoke to see where it leaks

hope it will help you

Have a great day
