Sometimes when I start my laptop, the mousepad won't work...the light won't come on, the cursor's frozen in one spot on the screen and no amount of pressing the button will make it work. sometimes I can press the standby button and the light will come on and the mouse will then work...but when it doesn't..how do you turn the laptop off if you can't use the mouse? pressing the power on button only seems to make it hibernate..not turn off :(
On your laptops power management settings, you will probably find an advanced tab. In there you should be able to assign the power button to 'Shutdown', as it is probably 'Hibernate' enabled. The mouse problem is probably your laptops touch pad driver, update drivers from Hewlett Packard site if there are any.

Looking at the keyboard I found a help key combination Fn-F1 which produced a menu listing several hot key combinations. One such combination was Fn-F7 which toggled the touchpad enabled/disabled.

Hey Gigantegenov!
Seems like the program that controls your special keys (volume control) causes your computer to freeze!
I would recommend reinstalling the drivers/application for it. Try this download and let me know what happened: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-31502-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=435618
Cheers!
