Question about Alpine CD Player CDA-9855 LIMITED QUANTITY ACT NOW

1 Answer

CDA-9855 CD-R and CD-RW mp3s and CD-R audio discs skip and sound garbled during normal around town driving. During moderate acceleration the cd's will either skip or sound distorted depending on if its a CD-R or RW. These are new discs, and work in my other head units in other vehicles. Head Unit is installed properly and secured, including the back side. Possible dirty pick up lens (laser?)? Recommend a disc cleaner or take it in to service?

Try lens cleaner first, always the best idea. If it makes a clicking sound when trying to read the discs, you're looking at a bad optical pickup.

Wont read some discs

People need to learn to leave more info if they want proper help!

What type of discs? You say some, are they CD-R, CD-RW, SACD, CD+R, CD+RW, standard store bought Audio CD?

When copying audio cds for playback in other players, always use CD-R to avoid any type of confilcts. CD-R will play in almost any CD player, even from the 80s. Some players say they will support CD-RW, but that is NOT GUARANTEED!

If it is Audio CDs, then the laser may be dirty. If it is MP3 cds or DATA cds, then try only putting one type of file on the disc, such as only MP3s, or only WMAs.

No sound from my 9855 alpine

There is an option in the unit itself to turn off the internal amplifier. If you push the 'menu' button, then go to the setup/settings menu, and then i believe it was under the 'general settings' tab. there's a option called INT IC or something. Make sure that is turned on.

Wont Take Cd's

Assuming you've looked inside to see if anything is jammed in it, you'd probably have to take the case off to see if the drive links are broken.

No sound from subs and rear speakers...

Make sure the Ipod is plugged into the AV input source. Then you may have to go through the menu to select AV1 or AV2 input. This should take care of the problem. Good luck
