Go to my computer control panel network connections and see if the setup for networking is correct DHCP should work most of the time. Check the device manager and see if your nic is properly recognized. If not you might need to install drivers for the card.

Also, sign onto your router and see if the router recognizes the computer.

It should tell you how to do this in the routers manual.

It look like that drivers you were downloading that was incompatible.

well!! I have an answer for you.your comp is loosing the IP address.first connect your computer via cable then goto start - programmes - accessories - dos prompt. type ipconfig.you`ll get ip address,subnet mask,default gateway.copy it. goto network and sharing center in vista and network connection under control panel in XP,IN Vista,click on view status,goto properties and double click on internet protocol(tcp/ip) or IPv4In XP,right click wireless network connection and goto properties and double click on internet protocol(tcp/ip).type in the IP address,subnet mask,default gateway.in DNS server address type the default gateway in primary DNS and in secondary 4.2.2.2. your connection won`t drop after this.

If you cannot install the software you can use the windows wireless software.To activate windows wireless software you have to click on
Start - Run - type services.msc and click ok
it will open windows services you need to find an entry called wireless zero configuration and click on start .. this should solve the problem
