Re: blaupunkt ATLANTA SQR 49 and cd changer cdc-m1
My receiver does not recognize that the CD player is there. My receiver face plate broke and I ordered a new one from blaupunkt. I have had the system for about 8 yrs and it has worked fine. Any other ideas besides returning the receiver?

No laser, means no laser. Typical symptom of laser failure. Most CD players can have the laser replaced fairly easily and cheaply.
Contact your local technician, and he should be able to replace it quickly.
The CD, when inserted, became either wedged or not seated properly and the sensors dont know how to respond. Here are the codes for Kenwood. Changer Error Codes
• E-00: Poor Cable connection.
• E-01: Magazine not properly set in changer.
• E-02: No Disc in magazine.
• E-03: CD does not have selected track number.
• E-04: Disc is dirty, upside down or unreadable.
• E-10: No data is recorded on the MD. The player plays the next disc automatically.
• E-99: Changer malfunction, disc may be caught in machine or changer requires service.
If you have a steady hand... carfully unscrew and open up the unit just far enough so you can either pull, or nudge the CD tray enough for the CD to be seated in the tray properly... Good luck...
I have a model sl-pd847 and experience similar problems to many other submitters. I checked the main pcb and found discolouration around what appear to be 2 (power?) transistors and probably a voltage regulator. After about 4-5 minutes after switch on these get really hot. I suspect that may be the reason why it doesn't work anymore. Worth fixing? I don't think so. This one didn't even play CD-R let alone CD-RW! Get something a bit more up to date I say.
Without me seeing it, it usually cannot read the disc and is caused by a defective, or needs to be adjusted or cleaned, laser assembly as long as it is every cd put in it. It can also be the disc spinner motor. Either one of those is the most likely cause. :)

Sounds like the mech is gummed up, jammed, or a cd is stuck inside.
Get a nerd to open it up and check it over.
