Whirlpool Micrwave, model #mh6150xls-1

My microwave will not heat, the turntable will not turn. I can select a cook time and press start and the micrwave will go thru the complete cycle, but will not heatup. What could be the prblem here. I have tested the door switch and they tested fine. Could it be the main control board. Any advice?.

Since you tested the door switches (my number one suspect) I would think you have a bad relay or a bad connection on the control panel circuit board. We repair these nationwide for $32.50, which is usually economical for most models. Just to make sure you have checked the door switches thoroughly, you can find my helpful text file called "doorsw.txt" via a Google search. It has important safety information and tips.

It not cooling

If you're talking about a microwave oven:
[1] plug the mains cord in to the wall socket
[2] switch the socket on
[3] put food to cook on glass turntable, never use empty oven.
[4] close oven door fully until it clicks
[5] set the power
[6] press 'start' or turn the timer-dial,depending on your model.
It will start to cook immediately.
The humming sound is the energy heating the food in timed bursts of power.
If nothing happens or it won't cook, post clear description of fault with problem, make, model.
Hope this helps,
Clive.

Manual for a whirlpool microwave oven model wmh31017aw-1

There is no turntable control. It is always on. The turntable should change direction each time the unit is used. If the turntable is not operating, it has malfunctioned. Newer microwaves for the most part all have full-time turntables to promote even heating, thus reducing customer complaints about ovens that don't heat right.

My microwave want cook

Hello

and/or circuit breakers, particularly in the case of recent power failure, and reset if necessary.

Unplug the microwave, wait 30 seconds and plug back in to the power supply to reset the microcomputer.

Open and close the microwave door firmly and press "Stop/Reset." Select a new cook time and press "Start."

Ensure a proper cooking temperature and/or time is chosen, as low cooking temperatures or short cooking times may prevent the microwave from heating food appropriately. Press "Power Level" to ensure the microwave is cooking at 100 percent power.

Contact an authorized service technician if the problem is still unresolved.

WMH 1162X VS -1 (watts unknown) Builder purchased

If the oven is set up to vent outside, then the metal mesh grease filters are used, and they should be cleaned in warm soapy water whenever they look greasy or dirty.

If the oven is set up to recirculate, then the charcoal filter is used, and it must be replaced (not cleaned) every 6-12 months, depending on use.

This model does not have a separate cooling fan like most other models. It replies on the vent fan for magnetron cooling, so if the filter(s) gets too dirty, it can reduce the cooling air flow, which can allow the magnetron to overheat and be destroyed.

I would need to know a little more to help narrow down the "no heat" problem.

If the cooling fan, turntable, and inside light all come on when you press "Start" to cook, then I would ask if you here a "thump" when you press "Start."

If so, then the high voltage section is getting energized. If not, then it may be the cook relay on the control board, which I can affordably repair.

The support page for your oven is here, and it has manuals and part lists you can download.

For more free DIY and other help & advice, feel free to contact me with your full model number and FCC ID number from the tag on your oven.

Whirlpool Micrwave, model #mh6150xls-1

On this model, it should be a defective secondary (top) door switch or the door switch mount.

If this switch fails to be activated, the oven will seem to run but not heat and the turntable will not work.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

Not Cooking

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.
Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

If you mean by "races" that the coooking time goes way too fast, then you may just need to reset the microwave. This is usually done by unplugging the microwave for several minutes then plugging it back in. You can also visit http://www.whirpool.com or call 1-866-698-2538 to speak with customer service. If that doesn't fix it, chances are that the integrated circuit (chip) is corrupted. Whirlpool doesn't make the chips available, so the whole control board (they may call it the "clock") would need to be replaced. If the time count sems correct, it's also possible that a sensor is bad, or maybe yopu have a bad door switch. You can do a Yahoo search for my file "doorsw.txt" to help you with the safety tips and disgnosis of door switch problems.
