I'm trying to find a PRINTABLE, not DOWNLOADABLE, instruction maunal for my SCM Smith-Corona. I don't know if that's the name of the model because I can't find any numbers that indicate what model it is (like the Hermes 3000 has numbers to indicate the type of model it is). Please help!
Can you give us any help in identifying the machine? Is it manual or electric, for example?
There's a downloadable and printable manual for the Smith-Corona Standard Portable here.
Bear in mind that if this is an old typewriter then there is a very good chance that no one has bothered to rewrite the manual since the invention of the internet. In such cases the best you can expect is a scan of an old paper manual.
Wow, I'm new at this so I thought if I comment on my original question I would get a response lol. If you check my original question you will see I responded from your response. It would be so much easier if you check my question rather than me retype my long response again lol. Tysm
Haha, again I made the mistake by adding a comment to my original question. Do you think the manual you originally gave me would be helpful?
It seems very similar. I think that is my typewriter. Thank you so much for your help!

Go to: http://www.smithcorona.com/Customer_Service/Manuals.cfm and print a manual. Page 7 should provide your fix.

I have been unable to find a site where you can download a Smith Corona typewriter manual. However, you can try going to Will Repair Service. They carry manuals of every Smith Corona typewriter ever made, and you should be able to find a manual for your particular typewriter there. I find them to be a very helpful and trustworthy typewriter shop.
YES, SMITH CORONA DOES STILL EXIST!
Best of luck to you! :-)

The print head might have accummulated a lot of paper bits you need to clear them with a needle or just submerge the tip in petrol or ether. Caution do not submerge if its made of plastic.

Ok, it's a manual typewriter and I was looking on ebay and I found someone with the exact same model. The person on ebay indicated that it was a (I'm copying the exact words) c1950 Turquoise Portable Typewriter SCM Smith Corona
Oh and I looked at the link and its the exact same one I printed earlier lol. I think that one is mine, but since it was scanned the font is a bit too small. If you have any other links that would be helpful please tell me. Also, I already tried the smithcorona.com website and there is only electronic typewriter manuals there...
I see a few Turquoises for sale but no online manuals. You just may have to contact another owner and offer to pay for a photocopy.
Ok thank you for your help, do you think the manual you originally gave me would be helpful?
You could answer that better than I could. Does the picture in the manual look anything like what you have?
