A day or 2 ago went down to watch some TV (has been working good for years). When I turn it on it sounds like its coming on then nothing, red power indicator light just starts flashing, cannot turn off set unless I unplug set (remote on/off or depressing power button does nothing). Please help.

I WOULD SAY NO ! THE PICTURE TUBE IS PROBABLY AS MUCH AS THE TV IS WORTH. i had a very nice sony trinatron tv. the picture tube whent on it at about 5 years so I CALLED FOR REPAIR AND THE PICTURE TUBE WAS 2-300 DOLLARS. good-day !
Sounds like you were having a power failure in the community,, we call it a brown out. just turn it off and unplug it,, I'm not sure if this is what the problem is.. I had this to happen years ago on a magnvox console.. I will check and see what I can find out for your model tv..
This sound like you are having problems with the power supply board. Since you are getting a momentary picture and sound the fuses are good but TVs today have "shorts" and "overvoltage" circuitry build in that will shut it down on errors. Someone knowledgeable in electronics will have to isolate the exact cause.
