Refrigerator is beeping intermittantly with door closed

The LG top freezer unit is a little over one year old. It starts beeping at odd times w/o any apparent reason. Customer support says that this is signaling open door but the doors are closed, operation is otherwise OK, the buttons that turn the inside light on and off are also OK, light goes on and off as it should. Will be grateful if someone would suggest a possible cause. Many thanks. Len

Len, I have had many service calls regarding this problem. The problem is the inside door switch. LG missed the tolerences a little. What I have had to do is get a piece of plastic with some double phase tape, about the same size of the switch and mount it so when closing the door it will put more pressure on the switch. The piece should be at least 1/8 inch thick. I believe LG has come out with a kit but the aforementioned works better...Catriver...post back.

LG EF FF Error

I found another post that suggested the following. Did it and found wires/connections frozen with a huge piece of ice.

Make sure unit is unpluged!

Removed baskets (2), unscrewed back panel of freezer. A little tricky to get out. There will be electrical connections attached to the panel but you can disconnect/reconnect these. Mine were on the top, left corner. I used a blow dryer to melt the ice chunck. Dried up all the water, replaced back, baskets.

I then took the panel off the very back of the unit as the melted ice had drained into the drip pan. I cleaned the drain pan of water, dust. They don't make this an easy task for the homeowner. Replaced the back, plugged it back in and all is working again. Don't know for how long until this happens again. But....no more LG products for this homeowner.

We remodeled the kitchen 2 years ago and went stainless steel. My 16 year old Kitchenaide is still running in the garage. Guess I'll go back to that model when the LG bits the dust.

LG Refridgerator LFC257060ST Keeps Beeping

Please check whether the doors are aliened properly to the body and if there is a small warp it could result in escaping of cooling resulting in poor cooling of both the freezer and the refrigerator chamber.

The magnetic gasket is the next reason for poor cooling. So please ensure that the gaskets are having magnet attached to the full length. Broken magnetic strip inside the gasket could also result in partial closing of the door leaving behind plenty of gap allowing the cooling to escape.

Just insert a visiting card between the gasket and the body and if you could do so then the gasket is not effective and requires replacement.

FPCE19TR frigidaire refrigerator/freezer door beeping at odd times

Hello delgrandma
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You said, your refrigerator has a sensor for when the door is not closed but lately the beeper goes off at various times and the door is shut. Your husband has tried to level up the door and you don't see anything keeping the door from shutting securely. The beeper even goes off in the middle of the night.

This sounds like the alarm switch or sensor is malfunctioning.
Do you have a refrigerator thermometer? You can buy one in the hardware store pretty cheap.
If so put it into the fridge and make sure the temperature is steady and not fluctuating.
If it fluctuating this may set off the alarm if it is a sensor that triggers the alarm due to temperature drop..
Rather than a mercury switch will only signal the false door opening if it is faulted, rather than a warm temperature!

How old is the fridge?
Here is an interesting report I just read!

Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old refrigerator

It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a refrigerator or a freezer.

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your refrigerator,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old (three years for top-freezers),
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that refrigerators under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your refrigerator is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new refrigerator.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive top-freezer refrigerator
six or more years old or a bottom-freezer or side-by-side eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a refrigerator you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.

Let me know what you decide!

Please do not for get to give a rating before you sign off!
Thank You, HUUUM

Freezer Door Popping Open

Look at the bottom of the freezer door, there is a little plastic stopper there. It may be worn out or broken. When you close the door this is what holds it there. Start there first.
