Do you mean the taskbar along the bottom of the screen?
If you move your cursor to the bottom of the screen the taskbar should appear. Right click anywhere on the taskbar and click properties. In the properties window, on the taskbar tab, uncheck 'auto hide taskbar'.

SOURCE: lap top problem

Hi

If the AC power light is blinking, try the following steps:

1 Cut off power to the computer by disconnecting the AC adaptor and removing the battery. The error condition will be interrupted, and the AC power light will stop flashing.

2 Put the battery back into the computer. Do not connect the AC adaptor. Try turning the computer on again. If the computer starts normally, the AC adaptor may be
defective and will need to be replaced. If the AC power light starts flashing, remove the battery, and continue with the steps below.

3 Connect the AC adaptor to the computer. Leave the battery out of the computer. Try turning the computer on again. If the computer starts normally, the battery may need charging, may be depleted, or may be defective. Turn the computer on, insert the battery, and then leave the computer running for several hours, which will deliver a slow, steady “trickle-charge” to the battery. Once the battery has been trickle-charged, it may begin working correctly again. If the trickle-charging does not prove effective, consider replacing the battery with a new one.

4 Connect the AC adaptor to a different power outlet, preferably in a different room. If the computer starts normally, there may be a problem with the AC outlet itself, or the voltage level available from it.

5 Verify that the AC adaptor is the correct unit for your computer model. The computer may not be able to start from an AC adaptor that is rated for less current (amperage) than the computer requires, even if the rated voltage is correct, and the plug fits correctly in the DC-IN socket. The labels on the bottom of the computer and the AC adaptor show the specifications for voltage ("V") and current ("A") for each device. The voltage level must match exactly. The amperage rating of the AC adaptor must be equal to or greater than that required by the computer

Regards
Mike

When i get my lap top on and click the start menu are any icon on my screen it says windows can not open screen, windows needs to no what program opened it plus alot of missing programs that were on start...

Check if you laptop has the recovery program on it. This is the only way you can get your laptop to get back into shape. Check from the start button and see if you can get to programs or if the my computer icon opens get to program files and look for any fold that says recovery. open it and double click on the icon that is executable then follow the instructions.

How to unlock bios of toshiba portege m500

two options

1. look on the mother board for a small round battery about the size of a nickle, remove it, start pc, after start up shut down, replace battery, start up again... or remove battery, let sit for about 30min, replace battery start pc.

2. look for a small red or yellow toggle switch or button on the mother board, (should say "reset bios") push button, restart pc.

i assume this is a lap top so there will be some disassembly of the unit, not to extreme though, usualy the battery and the switch/button are next to one another and located toward the front of the mother board, and if in lap tops the battery or batteries are in a plastic covering wired to the mother board with a small connector, just unplug connector if you cant find the reset button.

hope that helps

Are you talking of the BIOS password? Well, turn the laptop upside down and unscrew the plates. Under one of then you will find a button cell about 1 inch in diameter. remove it and reinsert it after five minutes. Your BIOS password will be erased.
If you are talking of the Windows password then you will have to reinstall Windows unless you know thw administrator's password. If you do, then delete this user and recreate it after a reboot. If no, then you must reinstall Window in a directory other than \Windows. For more info read the link
