The best way to fix any language problem is find a person that knows that language; in the case of it going into Japanese, try to ask asian youngsters esp. guys to see if they are Japanese and when you find one that is, ask them to do you a favor and put it back into English and treat them to coffee, lunch or whatever you can afford. I am sorry, but I cannot help you fix your mp3 player. The reason being I have the same model of Rio mp3 player, and the same exact problem. I can't figure out what to do, so I may just buy an ipod. They tend to have more solutions for their problems, if you know what I mean.

I took ny Rio Nitrus apart trying to fix the screen & noticed that the rechargable battery connects to the motherboard with two flimsy little wires and a pinhead worth of solder. If you've tried everything else, it'd be worth your time to take off the back and have a look 'cuz a drop could easily have shaken one of these wires loose.
