Question about Dell E153FP 15" LCD Monitor
My dell monitor screen keeps going black after being on for a few seconds. If I turn it on and off the picture is there for about 5 seconds then the monitor goes black. It is definitly a monitor issue, I've put a different monitor on the computer and its working fine, also tested the flat panel on my laptop and had the same issues. I looked for a reset button cant find one anywhere or how you even get the back off of the monitor. It is now out of warrenty and I am not sure how to go about fixing this problem.
The capacitors are probably bad. It is a common problem and easily fixed by taking it apart and replacing the capacitors. Try to find Rubycon Capacitors because they very rarely go bad. Do a search on google for bad caps. I have fixed about 30 monitors this way. Dell is a company well known for bad capacitors. It may not be your problem but replacing the capacitors should cost less than $10 if you do it yourself. www.photphot.com

I agree. The capacitors have popped. I found a local TV repair shop and the guy put new capacitors on the board for me for $5, so it's an easy fix. The monitor is difficult to get apart, but if you'll look carefully you can see small slots in the plastic, mine were on the bottom side, then insert a very tiny flat screwdriver carefully seperating the cover, using a slightly larger screwdriver in the gap, twist gently until the case pops open. Remember to take all the screws out of the exterior, and not to push the screwdriver in too far and scratch the screen. Good Luck.
