The rest of my phone functions as it should, but the End Button no longer works. My phone is not under warranty, so is this something that cellphone repair shops can generally fix? Should I open it up and try cleaning the contact?
If it turns out that the End Button is broken and cannot be fixed, is there any other way to turn my phone off and on? I can deal with not using it to end calls (since I can just close the slider) but not being able to turn my phone off or on is obnoxious.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thats not completely true, it is easier to replace just the top half of the phone but you can replace only the LCD. The repair will probably need to be done by somebody who has some experience doing this becaus it can be rather tedious. But it is possible.

This sounds like a flex cable issue. You will need to have a tech examine the device to see if the flex cable needs replacement.
The flex cable is the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the rest of the electronics and allows the slider mechanism to slide and have the device maintain proper electrical connection. After two years it may very well be worn out.

that happened to me after i dropped it in the toilet. if you pry up the keys around it aswell as the power key because they are all connected and push really hard on the silver thing it will turn on. then just push the keys back in place. trust me it works!
