Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

GE Spectra XL44

The oven is not working. It is giving an error of F7 d7. There is no heat from the oven and there is no visible pilot light lit, as far as I can see. I am unfamiliar with this model and I need to know if this unit has a pilot light like most gas ranges, and what the error means. I am hoping it means I have to light the pilot light, and if so, how do I do that. The range works fine.

Yes, we have the same problem. It starts beeping every 20 seconds and flashes F7 next to the time.

our oven is doing the same thing! What voltage and is it AC or DC should be across the igniter when turning the oven on?

I have the same problem, but I must have a slightly different model because I do not have buttons in the solution check.

Sister, there is no pilot light on this model. Sounds like you have a bad ignitor, however the F7 code shows as a bad touch pad membrane. d7 must represent how many times this fault occured, although Im not finding anything that shows a d7 code. Try resetting the board by killing power to the range for about a minute. After turning the power back on press the COOKING TIME, DELAY START AND NUMBER 8 PADS ALL TOGETHER. The words test should be displayed. Now you are going to energize the bake circuit; press the bake and start, you should hear a click, this is the bake relay on the board. By holding the start button in you are energizing the ignitor (glow bar) in the oven. If you do not hear the click, suspect the control board. If you do hear the click and the ignitor is not glowing, you have a bad ignitor. Have someone with you to verify the ignitor is glowing when you are holding the start button in. To exit the test, just push CLEAR/OFF key pad. Catriver...post back

The oven works fine. The problem is the burners on the top won't light. The gas flows however there is no clicking and the gas burner won't light.

Although pilot lights are lit, only one burner works the other 3 do not??? also do not see pilot light for oven??? does it even have one or light by match only??

Hello Linda

All burners have a small hole in the flame spreader which directs a jet of gas to the pilot lights when you turn the burner knob. These get clogged by food residues over time.

Remove all the burners and give them a good soak in hot soapy water. Sometimes you need oven spray first.

All modern ovens have a pilot light. There will be a red button which is usually hidden below the front removable panel or just inside a warming drawer at the top. You press and hold the red button and then light the pilot inside the oven. You continue holding the button for the flame to heat up a gadget called a thermocouple. This is a valve that only allows gas to the main burner if the pilot light is alight.

Take a look at the videos in the link.

Hi The pilot light when out and the oven has stop working does the pilot light double as a fuse ?? BSO 6000

No. The pilot light uses a thermocouple(safety device) to let the main gas valve know that the pilot is lit so that the main gas valve can operate safely by not letting the main gas valve turn on without a lit pilot light. This way, in no way can the main gas valve turn on until the heat from the pilot light causes the thermocouple to produce an electrical current which allows the main gas valve to operate when the thermostat switch closes.

Error Code E-08 on Samsung Gas Range. Oven will not heat but range top works.

Is there a gas pilot light that stays lit all the time or does it have an electric pilot light that glows red to start the oven.Either way if it's a gas pilot the thermocouple is bad, if electric the igniter is bad.

Our 17year old GE gas oven/broiler stopped lighting today. What might be the problem? Stove burners work.

Most likely culprit is the igniter.
When you turn the oven on it opens a gas valve allowing a small amount of gas to flow thru the pilot light. The igniter then lights the pilot and when the sensor determines the pilot is lit it opens th emain gas valve and the oven lights. If the igniter fails and doesn't light the pilot the sensor doesn't heat up and it shuts down the pilot and nothing works.
The igniter is usually accessable under the oven by removing the drawer. It has a single wire attached and looks like a short cigarette made of ceramic witha metal tip.
You didn't provide model number so I can't give you part number but if you look it up here you may be able to get one from Sears

Oven not working. gas on stove top is working. not sure if gas is not getting to oven or if there is another problem causing the oven not to heat up.

Check the pilot light assembly.Make sure the pilot is lit.If it looks good the thermocouple may be bad. If the pilot is lit,I would call for the repairman.

The oven pilot does not light. The broiler will not work. The only thing that does is the light. GE XL44 range. The burners light and the pilots stay lit.

If you have standing pilots, make sure the pilot for the oven/broiler is lit as well.  When you turn the thermostat up to call for heat, you should see the pilot get larger. That larger pilot flame heats a hydraulic sensor and opens the main burner valve.

I have a Garland stove series #G286, the oven won't stay lit.

it sounds like a venting problem, the oven heats up and it not venting,it will put the pilot out.

My gas oven stays warm even though it is turned off

A standing pilot such as this will give off heat. So long as the gas bake burner is not lit also, you will be fine. If the bake burner IS lit you have a defective oven control.

    Gas oven dosnt work

the pilot light is there for 2 purposes. number 1 to light the burner and number 2 to heat up the thermocouple, thermocouple is a wire that the flame from pilot suppose to surround by fire. if the pilot is to low it will not reach the thermocouple. you can take the gas line that supplies gas to the pilot and clean it with a safety pin or a small needle. you can test the thermocouple by heating it up with a blow torch on low heat, get it red hot and then turned on the oven. if the oven works clean the pilot, if the oven do not work, replace the thermocouple if separate from safety valve. if thermocouple is part of it replace the safety valve.
