If the recharageable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and graduallythe charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The batteryshows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops offto zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptablecharge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: I charge the MP3 player and it still shows "low battery" message.

There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It won't charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here's what to do...
1. plug the player into your USB port. or wall charger
2. switch the player on using the mechanical switch (on the side)
3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu
4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.
That is if the battery is still chargeable after all this time. The battery may well require replacing.

How to charge

You can use a usb cord to charge it with your computer or purchase a car charger charging it while using it in you auto. Charging with computer is best done overnight. This is good way to test the battery as it should hold charge for couple hrs or more after charging with your computer. Also a/c wall charger is availible as another option. Any of these cords can be found at www.GPSnStuff.com Hope this helps

Make sure the battery contacts inside the Garmine are clean. Use an eraser to clean the contacts. if this does not help then you might have a problem with the charging part inside teh Garmin itself.

My laptop won't charge or get power from the cord. I can put a fully charge battery in and it will work until the battery dies. I've tried using another cord, but it still doesn't work.

It sounds like the DC jack (The connector on your laptop that holds the charger) has broken. You will need to get this replaced, afterwards it should be able to charge fine.
Don't let this wait for too long, if those batteries sit at 0% charge for too long they could self discharge and damage themselves.

Hello

Check the connections on both ends to make sure they are attached securely. If the MP3 player is still not recognized, go into the player settings and change the Online Device from Media Device to USB Disk. Use a different USB cord if you have one because it could be broken and not allowing your computer to recognize it.

connect the device to a different USB port on your computer. If the MP3 player is still not charging, plug it into a wall charger. Try charging the Coby device overnight. If it still will not charge, the battery may be bad and you'll need to contact Coby for assistance

This isn't a problem (I hope) but my Sansa clip didn't hold a charge for very long. Can I use my cell phone charger to charge it? It fits the connection fine.

Yes, assuming you're referring to the connection at the end of the Sansa cord and not on the Sansa itself. The Sansa can be charged by any USB device or port that puts out sufficient current.

Gigaware mp3 4 gig locked up

If you mean, your gigaware mp3 is frozen and won't do anything, then there is a reset button on the side you will have to push with a something small. If that won't work, then wait for the battery to die. If you mean that your mp3 player won't stay on even if battery power is charged, I would get a plug-to-the-wall usb charger and plug the mp3 player to that. keep plugging it in and unplugging it untill it starts to work. Just keep playing with it until it starts working. If not then just wait a few hours to a day, then try to see if it works.

Sansa clip won't charge fully

If you have a phone charger with the same connector, plug in you Clip and leave it overnight. This will fully charge the battery. There is not enough power from the USB port.

I think you may just have a dead battery. The batteries on the iPod last a long time but they do go bad after years of use.
Occasionally a battery will die almost immediately without warning.
Also, use an AC wall charger to verify it's actually being charged.
USB cables work for transferring music, but are a weak source for charging. If you need a battery click here or check ebay they are fairly inexpensive to replace.

Recharging batt. on emerson mp3 digital media player

if your mp3 player comes with a usb charge cord and has no bulge in the cord, such as would contain some kind of voltage modification electronics, then it's ok.
the reason is: both the motorola charger and the usb port are  5 volts, all usb is 5 volts standard, and the motorola charger is labeled 5 volts right on the unit itself.
The the only possible problem would be if the motorola charger was wired differently. However I have been using my razor charger to charge my Emerson 2GB mp3 player w/no problem.
Plug in the charger with the mp3 player powered up, you should see the battery icon filling up just as if you were using the usb charger.
if you are still to worried to try it , then get a voltage meter and test the polarity (weather positive and negative are the same on the motorola charger as the usb cord when plugged into the computer.

Charging problem

Hello lil ronaldo,

It sounds like the internal battery pack may be failing. The rechargeable batteries commonly used in MP3 players last a long time but they do eventually fail and when that happens the battery will fail to properly hold a charge. It may come up to full voltage when you attempt to charge it but will quickly run out of power when removed from the charger. This sounds like what is happening based on your description.

I would recommend contacting Samsung to get battery replacement service. You can call them at 1-800-SAMSUNG (726-7864) or use their online service request tool. If the unit is outside of the original manufacturer's warranty there will probably be a charge for the service.

Best Regards,
Ken
