Paper size won't print

Error message -  I made a 4 x 6 custom paper size, asked printer to print from the photo tray and received the error message"Specified custom paper size is not supported in the selected tray" and can not get the printer to print my document.  I know this printer is capable as I have printed this very document from the photo tray-however, I was using a Dell computer with Windows XP operating system.  Now I am using a new iMac computer to try and print the document.  Can anyone help?

First customize the paper size in the Page Setup. Secondly when you send command for print, change the paper size to custom size from the Printer Properties and click print. On the other hand, you can select the paper size from the printer's menu itself after sending the print command. Please make sure that the right driver of the printer is installed on your computer.

Hope it will help and fix your problem.

SOURCE: Stopping Auto Tray Selection

If you use different print materials of the same size in the trays, each tray with a different print material should have a unique paper type setting to prevent the printer from linking the trays together and mistakenly printing on the wrong paper.

From the printer's operator panel, choose the paper menu, then paper type, then select the source (ie, tray) that you want to change.

For example, if you have plain paper in tray 1 and preprinted paper in tray 2 and both are set up where size = A4 and type = Plain paper then when Tray 1 runs out it will automatically feed from Tray 2. To prevent this from happening you should change Tray 2 type = Letterhead. In this way, the printer knows that the two media types aren't identical and won't pull from that tray unless you specifically tell it to.

SOURCE: Hp P4515n - Paper Handling for tray-2 only, gives

I just ran into this same issue with an HP LaserJet P4015n. Worked with HP and the resolution ended up being the following.
Hopefully this will work with the P4515n printer as well.

1. Open EWS page (printer page) in Internet Explorer.
2. Log into printer as administrator
2. Click on Settings tab, Configure device, System Setup
3. You will find Tray Behavior
4. Change tray 2 model to Standard Tray.

This should give you the standard options for the Tray 2 size or default to the size detected.

Once you have the message, try removing the paper from the bypass tray, then introducing it again. Alternatively, leave the tray empty then send the data, when it asks for paper, introduce your 11 x 7, and it should work.

Printing Issue

Test the driver. Go in the properties for the printer and set the number of copies to 4. Try to print a Windows test and and see if you get the same error message. If you do, then the issue is the paper settings in Printing preferences and probably needs to be changed to LETTER paper. If you don't get an error message, the issue is the application you are printing from. Make sure the application is set to letter under printer setup.
