I'm struggling with my laptop as the hard drive is full, I've backed up all necessary files to an external hard drive and now I want to restore the laptop back to factory settings and can't! Unfortunately I cannot find the backup disks made when I purchased the computer about 18 months ago!
If you cannot find the backup disks an option that you can do is system restore although it really depends on how long your last restore point is.
Go to start then run then type in MSCONFIG
after that click on Launch System Restore
Restore it to the oldest date. Luckily it will have the system checkpoint at the first time you used it.

I've tried that thanks, but unfortunately there wasn't even a restore point. I was hoping maybe there was an 'F' key I could press, but I've tried all those too! Any further help would be much appreciated.
