Try a system restore before this became a issue, if no! run a deep or full scan with your antivirus program, if still no change, go online to Dell and contact customer support and the technical department to see if there is a design flaw, or better still a solution to the problem.

SOURCE: My laptop says Time -of -day clock stopped when i turn it on

It sounds like the battery on your computer is dying, and the battery cannot keep the clock running. If Dell's warranty is still valid, contact Dell, to get your computer fixed/replaced.

SOURCE: my compaq laptop freezes after 30 minutes

It sounds like an overheating problem. When it is booted, does it run ok other than just being slow? Check your cooling fan and make sure it is running and not stopped up. That is a number one symtom of overheating is freezing and rebooting by itself. Have you expierenced that problem also? There is a free program called "Motherboard Monitor 5" that will monitor the temp for you and set off an alarm when it is getting to hot. Check that problem first. Hopes this helps!

SOURCE: Turn on my Dell Vostro 1500 and all I get is a black screen

Remove and re-seat your RAM cards. Remove your battery but leave the power supply attached. Try to start. If this doesn't work, your motherboard has died and needs to be replaced. Not a do-it-yourself job unfortunately.

SOURCE: My dell vostro 1000 laptop's display ain

if i read this right, when you power up the laptop you get fan spin but no display ?, if you just get fan spin and the green power light and nothing else the you have a motherboard failure, if you get LED activity and it seems to be working but you only have no display the its more likely LCD failure, if you DO get activity try this : power off the system, press power button while holding down the D key, this will run the LCD BIST SELF TEST which will run through full colour screens if fails this test you will et a beep code, please bear in mind you will only be able to run that test if you get LED activity, if you dont have activity then the motherboard needs replacing

SOURCE: time of day clock stopped - DELL Inspiron 1525

Hi,
This is one of the known issues with the Inspiron 1525 computer. The problem is caused by faulty cmos battery. If you computer is in warranty kinldy call Dell to get the same replaced . if the system is out of warranty. You would need to replace the CMOS battery ie below the keyboard.
You can follow the instructions below

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1525/en/SM/coinbatt.htm#wp1179839

Thanks

Cloc gains time

well without the make and model number I can only answer generally , most clock radios use the power line to sync the time base (60 hertz=60 seconds = 1 minute=60 minutes=1 hour) , but they use a internal time base generator when running on battery back-up (that's not so accurate) , I had one some time back that a customer plugged into a switched outlet (unknown to them) in there room and it did exactly the same thing it gained about seven minutes every day , me id check the outlet its plugged into to see if its on all the time (a quick test 4 this is to remove battery back up ) clock will then flash to be reset if you come back later to see it when the power was shut off

"time-of-day clock stopped" comes up

There are two possibilities. The first possibility is that the CMOS battery has died (sometimes happens even on newer machines). These batteries don't cost that much, but sometimes these batteries aren't the easiest to get to. If the computer is under warranty, you may want to have Dell replace the battery. You can find the service manual here if you want to replace the CMOS battery yourself: http://support.ap.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos1014/en/index.htm This service manual refers to this battery as the "coin cell battery." Step by step instructions are here: http://support.ap.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos1014/en/SM/AD_Coin_Cell.htm
The second possibility is that a motherboard component has gone bad and (the motherboard) needs replacing. One would certainly hope that the laptop is under warranty for this.

This is the solution from dell website :"Connect your computer to an electrical outlet to charge the battery. If the problem persists, call Dell for technical assistance". if laptop have warrenty then take it to DELL. if no warrenty, if you know how to open laptop , just replace the CMOS battery. or take out the CMOS battery for minute or two, and put it back. try both methods. if problem persists take it to DELL. best of luck..

Clock gains 5 minutes or more time over 30-45 days

Could be low-grade electronic components used, less than 1% tolerance values, or the crystal time-base, a precise clock-pulse generator, needs calibration.
Recommend to get it checked by electronics wizard.
