I've had my TV for 6 years and 2 months and have enjoyed it a great deal. I've just noticed (in the last month) that the picture is dark. I've adjusted the contrast, color and brighnss, with no luck. The tv has not been moved outside of this room. Thank you so much for any ideas. A tv man today told me just buy a new one, there is no way to repair it.

Re: Picture is getting darker and darker
If the tv has never been service before you could have dust on the 3 tubes, this will decrease the brightness to the screen. try taking the front or back off & see if you can see the top of the picture tubes. remember to unplug the tv & to clean spray the cleaner on the colth , then clean the tup of the tube. never spary on the tube itself. hope this works for you.

Every woman we know has a pile of makeup in her drawer that she "sometimes" uses. Translation: Never uses, but keeps just in case she finally learns how to properly apply blue eyeshadow.

Beauty products do have a shelf life, however, and chances are that blue eyeshadow with the glimmery bits that you bought a couple years ago (for Halloween?) has long expired. Here's a quick guide on the shelf lives of typical beauty products. We've listed them in alphabetical order. Oh, and just one quick little "PS": Please keep in mind that these are estimates, no matter what anyone tells you, it's unlikely you'll go blind from using 2-year-old mascara.
•Concealer Up to 12 months.

•Powder 2 years.

•Cream & gel cleansers 1 year.

•Pencil eye liner Should be sharpened regularly. Will last up to 3 years.

•Eyeshadow Will also last up to 3 years. Extra tip: A dark eyeshadow can double as eyeliner, in fact, most makeup artists swear by eyeshadow used as eyeliner. You'll need a super-flat eyeliner brush for this (MAC, Sephora and Aveda have great brushes). Get the brush a little damp and dab in dark eyeshadow (black, brown or deep jewel-tones work great). Wiggle the brush into your lash line focusing on the space between your lashes, then sweep the color just above your lash line.

•Brushes Wash every 2-3 months in a mild detergent.

•Sponges Wash weekly and discard monthly.

•Foundation Check the ingredients: A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months. You may find you need two different shades of foundation each year: One for summer when your skin is naturally darker and one for winter when you're lighter. Extra tip: If your water-based foundation dries out before it's expiration date, simply add a few drops of alcohol-free. toner
the picture getting darker means the lamp has aged and u need to replace it another thing u need ti replace the mirrors in the light tunnel of the light engine they have faded secondly the noise means the colour wheel has aged you need to replace it u will have to replace the whole light engine cos the color wheel comes inbuilt the light engine and u will be ok ontact lg dealer in your area
First, average life on these sets is about 3 to 4 years at best and only boards are sold so even if you can pin point the board (no individual parts are sold) it is likely if will not get fixed and doing so is a bad investment as all the boards are now old.
THE PANEL THAT DARKENS IS A DEFECTIVE PANEL TRY LIGHT PRYING TWO OPPOSED DIAGONAL CONERS OF THE TV WILL ITS DARK IF YOU MANADGE TO GHANGE THE IMAGE QUALITY PANEL IS DEFECT FOR AUDIO EITHER ITS THE SOURCE THE MAIN BOARD OR SPEAKERS
If you have never changed the lamp this is more than likely the issue, as the tv ages the lamp looses brightness. Most lamps are rated for 3000-5000 hrs of use. Replace the lamp assembly part # UX21514 and you will notice a much brighter picture. You do not mention if the tv plays the right colors on the entire screen. These have had light engine issues.
Good luck with it
there so many things which can cause that to happen an these are thwe following,
i a tube has to be tested
ii a line transformer
iii vedio amplifier
this tests can be done in w/shop where other tvs are of the same.
Uh Oh! blue screen of death. Your light engine has warped
a little from overheating and is distorting the picture.
My suggestion to you is to get
on the phone with hitachi and start complaining, then keep complaining
until they agree to pay for it. You may have to get the problem
diagnosed by a pro before they agree to pay for it though.
