SOURCE: Both compartments not cooling

It sounds like the control board may be gone. If there are no fans running or the compressor running then it will never cool of course. I don't think it's stuck in defrost mode since you say the display shows dashes vice numbers. Go to this site for diagrams, etc. Item 11 is the controls section. http://tinyurl.com/3533ao

SOURCE: freezer is very cold and refrig is cool

Hi. As long as the evaporator motor is working its one of the two as you mentioned. If the compressor and evaporator fan is running and the refrigerator door has been open, with the freezer door closed, reach into the back left top where the diffuser is located and put your hand in front of it and see if any air is coming out. You should feel a moderate breeze. If not, open the freezer door with your hand in front of the diffuser and if the air comes out good now, the return air is blocked (normally ice build up). If no air is felt, the damper is most likely bad. Use a mirror and see if the damper is closed or frosted up. This can happen from the refrigerator or freezer door being left open for some time.If you have a mechanical damper, make sure it is set in the middle. You want more air to the refrigerator section. Email me on ebay, user name themackshack if you need parts! Good luck, Mack

SOURCE: KENMORE TRIO 2004 59675523400 REEFER/FREEZER NOT COOLING

It is the compressor that has failed. The hum is it trying to start and the following click is the overload protector opening. What is the temperature where the refrigerator is located? Allow the compressor to cool down before trying to restart it. If it still does not restart after it has cooled off it is done.

SOURCE: refrig & freezer not cooling properly

I believe the start relay and start capacitor with the overload will need replaced. That is easy and should solve your problem, Sea Breeze

Vegetables in crisper are frozen, as well as liquids in bottom 1/2 of fridge door. The fridge & freezer temp controls won't adjust to our settings. Also, we're getting ice, but no water will dispense.

The freezer cools the refrigerator, so you actually get very cold air passing from the freezer to the refrig. The air from the freezer enters the refrig on the top and falls to the bottom where it is drawn back into the freezer. The temperature of the refrig is regulated by a thermostat and a fan that runs when the thermostat calls for cooling. If the refrig thermostat is faulty and causes the fan to run more than it should, there will be a freezing problem in the refrig at the bottom because cold air falls and warm air rises. If the refrig is thermostat is calling for cooling constantly, this will take more cold air from the freezer than is normal. Your freezer temp might be higher than normal and the refrig will be colder then desired. If the fan from the freezer is running constantly I would suspect a bad refrig thermostat.

The light in the refriderator has no power getting to it and the temp display has no light showing

You have a Whirlpool refrig and it has a bad control board . This board is located behind the refrig , on the left side at the bottom , inside a plastic housing . This housing is held on by 2 screws at the bottom left . Remove the housing and the control board inside . Replace the board and reinstall the housing . It costs about $ 80.00 . When you go to get the part , take the complete model number with you so you get the correct board . This board controls the light for the refrig AND the lights for the control knobs PLUS other parts which work ok relating to the cooling .

Your refrig light switch does control the freezer fan and the refrig light bulb . Replace the refrig light switch .
Open the refrig door , freezer fan goes off and the refrig light comes on .

Fridge not cooling/frezer overworking

It is constantly running because the thermostat in your refrigerator registers a warm temperature that never reaches target. Your refrigerator's cooling is dependant on your freezer - obviously your evaporator fan is working since your freezer is cooling, however that cool air is, for some reason not reaching your fridge - Make sure the vents are not blocked or plugged with ice - If applicable also check the damper, maybe the flap is not opening at all, letting cool air in.
Also check door seals and make sure te light switches off by pressing the door contact button.

Bulb does not light on refrig side. When it happened it popped out the two control knobs. Reset control knobs and replaced bulb but the bulb will not light. After resetting the knobs the refrigerator...

i would alssume(knowing about this refrig) that the leectronic control board hasgone bad. the board is located behind the unit next to the compressor, inside a white housing, if you rmeove this board yull probably see a "burn" on one or more ofthe resistors, this is what controls the lighting in refrig sect, not affecting the cooling but only lights

Kitchenaid built-in refrig 15 yrs old cold freezer, warm fridge

it.s the frezer that makes the refer cold.the evap fan in the frezer moves that chilled air to the refer.if that fan is slow or any blockage inthe air ways it slows that process. Also the frezer should be close to 0 degrees if theres a defrost prob that would make fresh food warmer
