I had to keep calibrating my screen today and so it was getting very annoying. And then later on in the day, I realised that the phone screen had stopped working. So I did a hard reset. After this was complete, the phone reset itself and then the green windows mobile 6.1 screen came up. It then said on the screen, Welcome to WM6.1, please tap the screen to continue with the setup. The problem is that I can't get past this screen and into the phone. No buttons work to get past, and neither does the slider do anything. The thing is I have a fully NON WORKING phone now, cause hard reset has cleared everthing and on top, I can't actually get into the phone as the screen just won't let me. Tomorrow I'm going to ring HTC direct and see whats up, Anyone else come across this problem?

I have had the same problem but have finally got past the alignment screen by putting a new text document called welcome.not onto the memory card. At least the phone is working now, but the screen is not. HTC have sent me the phone back wanting £360 because they say it is water damaged even though it is less than 12 months old.

I got a quote off HTC for £323. They said that they would have to replace full lcd plastic refurblishment and also the mother board. They sent me a picture of inside of my phone saying its to water damage, and that the white marker paper inside had turned pink, showing that it was def due to water. however I've always kept utmost care with my phone ALWAYS!. IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE so I asked for phone to be sent back. For that, they asked for £20 for wasting their time.

But listen to this, as the rest of the phone was working fine, I thought I'd just buy A NEW LCD WITH A DIGITIZER from ebay.co.uk for about £25. I opened up the whole phone, and then put the new screen in, and waa laa job done. EVERYTHINGS WORKING AGAIN!!!!

Go to http://www.mikechannon.net/ and download the manual which tells you step by step how to open the phone. If your careful, then you'll have no problem.

Please could you let me know o post how you did if you do this. On ebay, you would type in HTC TYTN LCD and you should get the results. I had bought a whole new lcd with digitizer.

I have trouble with my phone. Firstly its touchscreen function suddenly gone while I'm cooking at a friends house about 2 weeks ago. So I have to use all the keys to use the phone.

Then yesterday I thought I can fix the touchscreen by resetting the phone. The problem is after resetting, the phone stuck on its Windows Mobile 6.1 start screen.

The command is, "Tap the screen to set up your Windows Mobile-based device.

The problem is I cannot tap the screen because its touchscreen fucntion had gone. So is there's any way I can skip all these screen-tapping pages and proceed to use my phone back as before?

Or could someone go one better by telling me how can I fix the phone's touchscreen problem too?

Touch screan does not work on nuvi 760. Everything else works. Does not respond when touching screens. Can't change menus

Hello,

Try performing a soft reset or a hard reset to the unit.
The soft reset is done by holding the and sliding the power button on for at least 10 seconds and allowing the unit to power on.
A hard reset is done by pressing and holding the bottom right hand corner of the screen while the power is off and then pressing the power button on. A pop up will appear asking to confirm the reset.
The hard reset will erase the user data, so it is advisable to save the data if possible.
Installing and running the Garmin WebUpdater to load or reload the latest update will resolve most issues.

I forgot my password

first try a soft reset or try a default password 1234
lilb86.jpg

if that doesnt work you will need to do a hard reset. this is how there are two ways here is way number one

To do a hard reset its a bit of a pain

while pressing and holding both soft keys which are the two dashes just bellow the screen push the stylus into the reset hole pic above
Keep pressed until the warning appears. continue

If the device just starts up quickly then you have done a soft reset only.(as mentioned above)
Try again all three things must be done at the same time and held until the hard reset message appears.

If you succeed in hard re-setting but the password is still asked for then we may need an extra few steps to ensure the registry is cleared. .

way number two..

press and hold the left &right soft key, and at the same time, use the stylus to press thereset button at the bottom of your device.
release the stylus but continue pressing the 2 soft keys until you see a message on your screen

Release the two soft keyss, and then press the green call button on your device.

To perform a hard reset using Clear Storage if you can access it

1. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Clear Storage.
2. Type "1234" in the box and tap YES.

please let me know if that helps

My htc tytn ii stays on align screen after hard reset

It seems it might be a problem with the installed ROM (corruption of some sort).Installing an original ROM (which can be downloaded from HTC's site) should fix it.

My tytn11 touch screen does not respond to screen taps. Everytheng else works. Navigation control and all buttons work. Have tried soft reset and screen aligning to no avail. Advice will be appreciated

I have sent my Tytn2 in to have it repaired. Seems as if it could be the screen which has to be replaced at +- SaR 95.00 or the flexi at SaR 650.00. So in a panic I spent the $12.95 to subscribe to this site unnecessarily

Touch screen on Palm Z22 does not respond

The Data on your Z22 is rock-solid safe, but unlike the answer that states to do a RESET- DO NOT ! The touch screen problem has nothing to do with resetting, it is a failure of the soft plastic top layer of the touch screen. There is a tiny, remote possibility that the logic circuits are out of sync and the touchscreen really is mixed up in a software state, and a SOFT RESET may reset the touch screen, but this is almost unheard of ( but does happen).
I have an entire page on the Z22 and how to maintain, repair and interface it. It is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

I would suggest trying a few tricks listed on my web page, and see if you can get the screen to work again. It is IMPERATIVE to get a hard plastic cover over the screen to keep it working!

Please read over the information on the Z22 page.

good luck

TyTN II - Keep the phone screen alice during a call

Hi there,
Received the following reponse very promptly from HTC Support
---Quote---
This is actually a function of the phone and not a fault. It was designed so that when you were on a call and had the phone against your ear that you didn't accidently tap on the screen and open functions or end the call etc. If you wish to access the touchscreen while on the phone you can press the power button on the side of the phone to turn the screen back on. I have attached a 3rd Party Application that allows the screen to stay on while you are on a call. Follow the below steps to install the program. Attached is a patch for the TyTN II screen blackout issue.
This is not an official fix.
  1. Copy the KaiserTweak.zip folder to your pc's desktop.
  2. Connect you device to the pc via ActiveSync.
  3. Use the Explore function in Active Sync to copy the KaiserTweak.zip folder to the windows directory on your TYTN II.
  4. Disconnect your TYTN II from the pc.
  5. Open up file explorer on your TYTN II and go to the windows directory
  6. Unzip the folder to the windows directory on the TYTN II
  7. Run the Kaiser Tweak.exe to install the patch.
  8. Adopt the recommended configs, not the default.
  9. Soft reset the TYTN II by pressing the stylus into the little circle hole on the bottom of the handset.
If it doesn't work first time hard reset and try again. ---End Quote --- Thanks to the FixYa guys for thier intererst in this topic and problem Cheers Corpcc

HTC TY II Product - messaging not working

You will have to do a master or "hard" reset which will reset your phone to factory state. This can be done via Tapping Start > Settings > System tab, then tap Clear Storage and input "1234". Conversely you can also hard reset your phone by holding both your softkeys (the physical keys that map to left and right menu options) and using your stylus to hit the reset button while holding those two softkeys.

Try to calibrate the touch screen. Also clean it with a soft cloth. But calibrating it should help the film when you tap the screen.

Touch screen not working...

Hi guys,

i post this solution for those wo will be in the same situation in th next future. I had the same problem with my HTC TyTN (Herm 200). The touch-screen was simply not working. I read many 'solutions' on the net but none worked. I did not try the hard-reset because i was convinced this is not a software problem, and resetting the WM5 will not help. So i brushed the corners, looked for small particles which were pressing on the cover of the touch screen. but it did not work. finally i found one post (i don't remember where exactly) where a guy used a credit card and pushed it all around the touch-screen under the metal case (a bit harder). i tried it and it worked. i pressed harder especially in the lower part, above the buttons. and simply it worked ! no problem since then.
