It will agatiate and water drains out but it wont spin when it gets to the spin cycle i think the lid switch is good cause if you open the lid the washer will stop and wont start again till you close the lid
My Roper is model RAS8245EW1 and I'm having the same problem. Put a load in, went in later to check on it, and it was making grinding noise, but not spinning. The water had drained, but won't spin at all, just makes the funny grinding noise like something is spun out. Could it be a belt? or something more serious??My Roper is model RAS8245EW1 and I'm having the same problem. There are a few potential causes for your Roper washer not spinning or draining:
Drive belt: If the drive belt is broken or slipping, it could prevent the tub from spinning. Check the belt for any signs of damage or wear, and make sure it is properly tensioned.
Lid switch: Even though you said the lid switch is ok, it's still worth checking it again as it is responsible for ensuring that the washer will not spin or drain unless the lid is closed.
Motor coupler: The motor coupler connects the motor to the transmission and can wear out over time. If it has failed, the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the coupler for any signs of wear or damage.
Drain pump: A clogged drain pump or pump motor failure can prevent the washer from draining. Check the pump and clean out any debris that may be blocking it.
Control board: The control board could also be a potential culprit, especially if the washer is not completing cycles correctly. Check the board for any signs of damage or malfunction.
Transmission: If none of the above solutions work, there may be an issue with the transmission. This will require a professional repair.
I hope this helps you diagnose and fix the issue with your Roper washer.
Your washer has a lid switch. If the switch is broken the washer will not spin. The pump is mounted on the motor. In the wash cycle the pumps turns counterclockwise. In the spin cycle the pump turns clockwise, forcing the water out of the machine. So if that lidswitch is dead then she won't pump OR spin. This video shows how to get into your machine and the next one shows how to replace the lid switch Use this GUIDE to help you
sounds like your lid switch is defective. if it will fill and agitate but not drain/spin, the most common problem is the lid switch....your machine thinks the lid is open
What brand is this? If it a whirlpool or kenmore (or roper, estate) It is you lid switch. A very common problem but is cheap and easy to fix. Get me the model number and i can give you the part number for the switch.
